@GaryMarcus@DKThomp Agreed, working with the models you can see a clear improvement in value. Mozilla’s write up is on the money. It’s now getting very useful to take seriously and the false positive rate has fallen. It’s still not the zero day end of security some of the hype folks suggest.
@DKThomp I think a common issue in AI is, some people are still over hyping capabilities but the status quo normie view that this is all hype is being proved more and more ridiculous. Speaking as someone who has also improved security of large systems leveraging Mythos.
A few people asked me to make an image of how much irrigated farmland would use the same water required for ALL ChatGPT usage, including every part of the process. I did a botec and my best guess right now is that inference uses about as much water as training, and power generation uses ~5x as much water as the data centers themselves, so it looks something like this. The water cost of manufacturing chips is marginal compared to how much water they use over their lifetimes.
@stefaesthesia@mitchontheshore +1, good to encounter diverse views. Like @stefaesthesia said, the Seattle one rarely has as right leaning of folks. It’s a good time, you should stop by. New events are posted here:

governments need to start gamifying paying taxes
give me a battlepass
awards and unlocks once you paid $ xyz in taxes
notifications what has been paid (you just paid a teachers salary)
the IRS should at least send a plaque
make paying taxes fun
@Aella_Girl Which is why Texas is famously both better on zoning and pro immigrant…
I think there’s some truth to this but grossly over simplifies…
Certainly it would be better for everyone if there was fairly radical zoning reform.
@NathanpmYoung I chuckled at the OP, mostly because I do think something is lost in just saying here I am come date me if you want instead of risking embarrassment of asking face to face.
I think this illustrates that there are different forms of ego risk…here you’re open to internet shame.
@stefaesthesia@BenShindel@32Tumbles I was trying to take the high road and not mention that again…
You have many other reasonable opinions; no one bats 1000. I thought uncut was good, not sure about an all-timer but I feel watching it aged me several years from the stress so that’s something.
@__AlexCc @stefaesthesia@PoliticalKiwi@brokensandals@Vincessant_ Wait a minute, do you have a source on the homicide claim…May have to rethink my ethical intuitions here
But yeah +1 to ACE.
Moving towards actions that align better with your morals is good though even if you’re not maxing things out. Sustainability of morality is needed too
@stefaesthesia I see we’ve moved into the public shaming stage
“Trying for months” may be putting it pretty strong though. Maybe if I create a prediction market this will have more success 😂
