Imagine there was a policy that would transform 1000s people’s lives, boost the economy and raise money for the treasury
New research from @jdportes suggests regularising the immigration status of people who have made the UK their home would do exactly this
#SettleOurStatus
It’s the right thing to do, would boost the economy and would raise money for the treasury.
That’s why @thetimes reports a ‘growing consensus’ across the political spectrum that the government should regularise the immigration status of people who have made their home.
This is why a growing consensus is calling for these people to be "regularised". Calculations by @CitizensUK suggest each person could contribute £2k a year in tax – which would more than offset the £1,400 they claim in welfare

Today, the @ukhomeoffice announced a fee waiver for some children applying to be registered as British Citizens.
This is a massive step in the right direction. We’re proud of all our members that have spent years organising and being part of the #ChildrenIntoCitizens campaign.
NEW: The Government has been forced to waive the £1,012 child citizenship fee for children in state care and children whose families who can't afford it.
A big win for the campaigners fighting to ensure no child is priced out of citizenship - @PRCBC1@CitizensUK@AmnestyUK_CHRN
