Today the timber arrived for our raised beds!

A huge thanks to the volunteers who came out to coat them in raw linseed oil.This will protect them for the next few years. Well done guys!

Fitzgerald’s Park & Shalom Park in Cork City have received their first Green Flags.

The parks have planted pollinator-friendly plants, grass cutting regimes to increase native wildflowers, stopped pesticides use, stopped using peat in planting, provided areas for invertebrates

[Togher Community Garden @TogherGarden]

After some reconfiguration of the plans, a few of our team got on site to mark out the raised beds, polytunnell and pathways.
Big thanks to Maria from @greenspacescork for her input. Onwards and upwards!

@sendboyle Great news!!... no more rings of death around trees!

What will the alternative be @sendboyle ?

I know that there are hot foam treatments, flame guns and even a way using electricity used by other places....will it be one of these?

[Togher Community Garden @TogherGarden]

@oliver_moran @CorkGreens @greenparty_ie @sendboyle @EoinBearla @Amy__nolan @MaryOK24 @niamhaineryan @OpinionLine96 @NeilRedFM @MalcolmNoonan1 A very welcome development! No more rings of death around trees.

Have the CC decided on how they will get rid of weeds along paths, walls etc if glyphosate wont be used?

[Iar Ard Mhéara Chorcaí, Cllr. Dan Boyle @sendboyle]

The Environment Policy Committee of Cork City Council, which I chair, has today received a report from our Parks Department that glyphosate will not be used in public amenity areas from January 2022. This will eliminate a huge proportion of its current use.
