Couldn’t agree more. Education leadership is about working with individuals to achieve their best. Developing a future healthcare workforce is an important responsibility and is so much more than allocating trainees to a rotational spreadsheet.
Education leadership....a thread
After six fantastic years as Education TPD for @NHSHEE_NEY T&O trainees I have stepped down this week.
Thanks to the amazing trainees in our region, it has been an absolute privilege to work alongside you and help you develop.

For some groups in particular, the numbers are eye-watering.
Specialty registrars — junior doctors about 5-10 years into their professional career — would be earning *£20,000* more per year today if pay had kept up with inflation.
Only 50% oncology training posts filled. No. of patients rising, complexity & choice of treatments expanding & (reason we do the job) more pts cured/live longer - we’re at breaking point in clinic, pharmacy & treatment capacity - how can we even try to deliver what is needed?

A huge thank you to the organisers, speakers, and fellow attendees at #ESTRO2023 for an enriching and memorable event. I look forward to leveraging the knowledge and connections to continue to improve patient care
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: No wonder jnr doctors & nurses don’t feel valued. Not everyone is “feeling poor”equally @bankofengland . What gvmnt has done to their pay 👇 is an absolute disgrace
RT if u think @SteveBarclay@Jeremy_Hunt@RishiSunak should #PayRestoration & save our NHS
Last Christmas I received a card from a patient, she told me just how much she enjoys life now 10 years post treatment, and all the grandchildren she got to meet. Isn’t this just so worthwhile? CNSs make a difference everyday. #HappyCancerCNSDay@RMPartnersNHS@royalmarsdenNHS
The people of the UK need to decide whether they value universal healthcare, as delivered by the NHS, and vote accordingly at elections. NHS staff deserve decent salaries & the money CAN be found. Keep exploiting them and we'll lose them, and more people will suffer worse health.
