@kellymnyc This reads as misplaced hubris. Coordination and collaborative planning during blue skies is terrific (and commendable). Mayor Brown must recognize that the buck has to stop with someone who’s dedicated, educated, and committed to owning Buffalo’s emergency preparedness full time
@kristen_mirand@WKBW The Mayor’s response here still surprises me. I cannot understand what would prevent a public official (with such a tragic event in their recent memory) from recognizing the importance of having a dedicated person/team coordinating their emergency preparedness efforts.
Faced with evolving threats, it's crucial for healthcare facilities to adopt a comprehensive security strategy. Emergency managers, IT professionals, and physical security personnel play pivotal roles ensuring the safety of our infrastructure, staff, and patients 💫 #EMGTwitter
@AlexC_EMHS Political theater to demonstrate his allegiance to DeSantis by throwing stones at the Feds. A great many of FL’s government officials are trying to secure future appointments and it’s getting in the way of their ability to think rationally.
From a senior govt. official in one of the most hazard-prone states (with some of our most socially vulnerable populations)… Appalling. Sadly, this exemplifies the pervasiveness of political fear-mongering and how straw man tactics further divide us over non-issues #EMGTwitter
Don’t like systems where the federal government can access Americans directly to their smartphones. More collusion with Big Tech. Don’t like them bypassing the states. Today its emergencies, tomorrow it’s being perverted by a regime that’s telling you to mask up.
Congratulations to the newly EMAP accredited programs announced this week!🥇
I’m honored to have worked with folks from a number of these shops and can report that they’ve all made great efforts to bring their programs up to this esteemed level. Keep up the amazing work 💫 🏼
EMAP is excited to announce 13 programs that have earned accreditation. Congratulations on this highest honor!
Please review the attached press release:
NWS has unveiled an experimental Flood Inundation Mapping (FIM) service that includes our forecast area! Many other spots are also part of this rollout including much of East Texas, central parts of Pennsylvania, and parts of the Northeast. Visit https://t.co/iop1eyed7C for more.
It’s unfortunate that @MDMEMA and other Maryland officials have drawn the ire of some over declaring a State of Emergency ahead of any impacts from TS Ophelia. This was a reasonable and prudent choice that exemplifies their commitment to proactively protecting MD citizens 💫
With temps in many places as hot as they’ve been in decades, remember:
1. Hydrate 💧
2. Light clothing 👕
3. Shade/indoors 🏠
4. Check on neighbors 👋
5. No hot cars 🚗
6. Fans/AC ❄️
7. Learn signs 🤒
8. Call 911 for severe symptoms 🆘
Stay cool & Beat the heat! ☀️ #HeatSafety
Some pretty incredible photos of #HurricaneIdalia reportedly coming from folks in the Outer Banks Beach area of North Carolina 🌊

@FEMA_Deanne@POTUS Terrific group of folks on hand to manage Florida’s response and recovery from #HurricaneIdalia You always know things are in good hands when you see the @FLSERT folks! @KevinGuthrieFL & Melissa Shirah are top of their field emergency managers 💫
@insidecanoehead To a degree putting the word “mandatory” in front of an evac order is a bit of a platitude for officials to let themselves off the hook. It’s not unusual to find there isn’t much in the way of teeth behind this when faced with someone who adamantly refuses to leave their home.
@contrarianEM TDEM seems like a forward leaning agency that has chosen to place an emphasis on response operations. The curriculum appears to be in the same vein as those who would see FEMA become a uniformed government service… EM undoubtedly suffers from a definition & branding crisis
