Bus lanes improved reliability by 12% on average and by 19% on the 116 Morningside, according to new data released today by @TO_Transport.
Time to roll out the red carpet for more buses across Toronto! #TTC
Important to look behind the headlines. The RapidTO bus lanes reduced trip times because stops were removed without consultations. Bus stops in #ScarbTO are often far apart so if you have mobility issues the time saved on the bus is wiped out by the time getting to the bus stop.
Built at a cost 700 times less per kilometre than some subway projects, I argue in @SCMirror that much more focus is needed on building a network of #RapidTO dedicated TTC bus lanes quickly, esp. in #ScarbTO

Another time-honoured tradition for Scarborough: politicians promising better transit for Scarborough. Did @fordnation or @JohnTory mention the closure of the SRT in 2023 or that it will take 10 years for the SSE to be built?
During news conference Premier Ford blamed Toronto City Council for long delay in getting Scarborough a subway, as a reporter who has covered more stories than I can count on this, remember it was Rob & Doug Ford who reversed plan for LRT - which would have been completed by now
@KORichardson@RM_Transit@transitfan344 The problem is currently you go directly to scarb ctr stn on 1 bus (e.g. 131 Nugget) When the subway opens, you add an additional transfer that was never there at Sheppard/Mccowan which thus increases commute time versus the bus going directly to stc as it does now.
@declanmartin75@KORichardson Try telling Malvern commuters who currently take 1 bus directly to STC that they once this opens have to get off at the new station, wait for a train and ride 1 stop to get to the new Scarb Ctr Stn, then have to walk further the mall or services. It is inconvenient.
@a_darkcorner@ScarbSubwayEXT@ShopSTC@fordnation@Metrolinx should be transparent abt this that their project will inconvience Scarborough residents by creating an additional transfer and changing up Scarb Cente Stn - essentially adding more commute time. But of course the media doesn't mention this! #shame
The new @ScarbSubwayEXT will be an annoyance for residents going to @ShopSTC who will have to get off their bus at McCowan/Sheppard Stn, and go downstairs, wait for a train, and take the train one stop to Scarb Centre Stn. It creates an additional transfer (1/3)
@a_darkcorner@ScarbSubwayEXT@ShopSTC It will be like when the subway opened at @yorkuniversity The 939B used to go to campus then once it opened, ppl had to go to Finch W Stn, walk down flights of stairs & wait for a train to go 1 stop. Walking, waiting + if subway delays all adds unnecessary time to Scarb residents
Also, @Metrolinx plans to build the new Scarb Centre Stn at Bushby/Progress is another inconvenience as the current station is situated directly beside the mall, civic centre and govt' buildings. Moving the station will mean ppl need to walk further to get to these places. (3/3)
Currently the 129, 130, 131, 169, 939 go directly to @ShopSTC Scarb. Centre Station, but when the subway opens, these buses won't go directly to STC anymore. This additional transfer will add time to the already long commute vs. staying on a bus directly to STC. (2/3)
@CityNews@MelNakhavoly@fordnation Scarborough is much larger than Scarborough Centre/McCowan & Sheppard. This pathetic billion dollar 3-stop subway does not help all Scarborough Residents. Most will still have to rely on crappy bus service.
"Scarborough residents live past McCowan as well. We really need investment in other lines like the Eglinton East LRT and Sheppard East LRT that would be built faster, cheaper and serve more people. We're just getting 3 stops, that's not going to help a lot of residents." #TTC
Advocates call on #TTC to pause Wheel-Trans changes, saying thousands could lose access | "Changes mean people with disabilities, seniors may just stay home."

Ford refused to recall the legislature to legislate life saving policies like #paidsickdays during the deadly second wave of the pandemic, but he’s going to recall it now to invoke the notwithstanding clause so he can rig next year’s election… 👀 #onpoli#onlab
