Trading is hard.
You need the patience of a turtle.
The discipline of a top 10 UFC fighter.
And an autistic amount of pattern recognition.
All at the same time, under pressure - with your money on the line.
Your competition?
Institutions with
- faster tech
- better data
- and lots of capital
And their entire business model is taking your lunch money.
Good luck.
So many new traders get stuck in the loop of trading options. It wasn’t until I was introduced to futures that I realized this is where the money is. You only have to look at 1 chart. Simply buy and sell. You’re just as leveraged, if not more, and you get the tax benefits.
The more i trade the more I realize most technical analysis books are trash. Firstly if you can’t manage emotions, all the technicals in the world won’t help you. Secondly trading the setups that YOU see clearly is worth more than any book filled with chart patterns.
I really struggled with chop this week. We’ve had some really tight ranges then big breakouts from those ranges. Finished down at 300 from 418. I had some big swings up near 500 then back down to where I finished. Going into next week focusing on consistency.
This week the struggles were front running setups, and not trading around major levels. Today several trades earned 5-7 points, but I had profit targets at 8-10 points. These resulted in break even stops. I’m having to remind myself when trading 1 contract 5-7 points is progress.
Finished the week down on the futures small account challenge. At 418 from the original starting amount of 500. The goal is to grow it to 2k without blowing up the account, and posting about the lessons learned along the way. I don’t expect this to be easy. I expect to suck😂
