Adjunctive targeted disruption of the Purkinje network improved outcomes after VT ablation in patients who also had evidence of VF. It is critical to review every episode of ICD therapy and plan accordingly.
A #JACCCEP study showed that in pts. w/ prior spontaneous polymorphic VT/VF, adjunctive Purkinje de-networking during VT #epAblation was associated with a substantial reduction in recurrent ventricular arrhythmias, w/ a modest increase in risk of LBBB.

Please join us in congratulating all 10 physicians on this national honor.
Thank you to everyone who made @VTSymposium & the pre-con, PFA 101: From Bench to Bedside, a resounding success. @VTSymposium 2026 ON-DEMAND will be available soon to all conference attendees and later for general viewing. Keep an eye out for details on the 22nd Annual International VT Symposium 2027
When we consider everything Michel Haissaguerre has already done for our field it is beyond inspirational to see how he continues to share his knowledge with us. The MEJ award is well deserved.
Live- 21st VT Symposium - Mark E. Josephson Memorial Lecture by Michel Haissaguerre- Structural basis of Ventricular Fibrillation- simultaneously published in JACC Clinical Electrophysiology- Congratulations to International team @VTSymposium@ACCinTouch

Fascinating to consider the acute and longer term effects of PFA on fascicular tissue. I suspect that there will be a lack of durability for Purkinje tissue as it has a much lower metabolic demand compared to myocytes. Might need to be prepared for temporary pacing overnight.
Please join me and my international colleagues to celebrate the success and interest in the Physiology of Pacing Symposium. It is our 10th Anniversary. This will be a special and tremendous session and opportunity for anyone interested in pacing to learn more. Please join us.
Shaping the Future of Heart Failure Care at #HFSA2026
The @UChicagoMed Section of Cardiology is headed to Phoenix for the @HFSA Annual Scientific Meeting!

Congratulations to Dr. Hena Patel, Director of the Women’s Heart Center (@hpatel824), on receiving the 2027 Preeclampsia Foundation Vision Grant Award!
A member of the @UChicagoMed Section of Cardiology and founder of our Women in Cardiology (WIC) Program, Dr. Patel is dedicated to advancing cardiovascular research and improving care for women throughout their lives.
Her research proposal, “Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction and Subclinical Myocardial Remodeling After Preeclampsia,” will investigate the potential long-term cardiovascular effects of preeclampsia in diverse populations.
This highly competitive award supports research addressing health inequities in the United States.
Please join us in celebrating Dr. Patel’s achievement and her commitment to advancing women’s heart health!
We found abnormal Purkinje electrograms (prolonged and multiphasic) at sites where VF triggers were identified at the time of ablation. An important feature for understanding VF mechanisms.
Substrate de-networking linked to greater freedom from VT/VF but more conduction system injury. Trigger-focused ablation may be considered first when PVC triggers are identifiable, reserving substrate modification for refractory/nontriggered VF https://t.co/C8eFnX14NZ #JACCCEP
The best approach appears to be regionalized Purkinje network disruption. One thing I have learned is that the fascicular anatomy (discrete pathways) we were taught in medical school is wrong. It’s more like a web of intersecting fibers facilitating reentry.

Dear Friends: I would appreciate your response to this brief, anonymous poll of VT ablation after a first appropriate ICD shock. I will present the aggregate results at the VT symposium in NYC. Thank you for collaborating! https://t.co/DYnOa0yoQo
