Ivan McKee ignoring reality. SFRS have an £800 million+ capital deficit, stations held up with internal scaffolding & the board have just ratified 166 post reductions "temporarily" forced through in 2023 in response to budget pressures. Over 1200 frontline posts cut since 2013!
Healthcare assistants in the NHS are being paid just £12.92 per hour.
That’s just 21p above the National Living Wage.

Today #WeRemember the 52 people who lost their lives during the 7/7 London bombings, 21 years ago.
The FBU send solidarity to all those affected by the 7/7 bombings including members of @RMTunion and @ASLEFunion.
After losing one in five firefighters since 2010, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service now faces plans to close 8 stations, remove 8 fire engines and cut 96 firefighter posts.
We need investment, not cuts. Stand with firefighters.
A cut to one is a cut to all.

🚨BREAKING: Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Authority have cast their final decision to abandon proposals to close eight fire stations, under the conditions that…
👉They are granted approval to raise council tax
👉There are no more cuts to DWFRS by February 2027
The FBU will continue to hold Dorset and Wiltshire CFO and the Fire Authority to account and will stay vigilant against potential covert cuts disguised as “service modernisation”.
Firefighters’ duty is to protect the public, and that is exactly what FBU members have done in fighting against these closures.
Firefighters at Balmossie are right to be "despondent".
Removing a wholetime fire engine means longer response times for the communities they protect.
This is another example of frontline fire cover being cut in the name of savings.
The public deserves better.

£24.4bn of public spending on contractors went to PE

🔥 Kent FBU members fight back and win🔥
Today Kent Fire Authority have postponed proposed cuts that would have seen -
• 5 fire stations closed
• 63 Firefighters lost
• 6 fire engines lost
Councillors today decided to postpone the proposed cuts for 6 weeks and look for alternative options.
Steve Wright, general Secretary said “ In 6 weeks we will be back, louder and bigger than today’s rally. We will not accept any cuts that compromises firefighter and community safety”.
This is what sticking together and standing strong does. This is a message to any FRS that seeks to make cuts to frontline services - the union will not standby and let that happen.
