The shittiest thing about AI as a SWE is that while it's not the 10x nitro-boost that all the AI hypebeast grifters on here claim it is, it *is* a net ~30% productivity gain (once you factor in all the review, code slop clean up, etc.), which is *just* enough of a boost where you cannot justify not using it.
This is a letdown because using AI after years of learning to code without it is of course an ongoing humiliation ritual, (counterintuitively) *more* exhausting/draining than coding by hand, and way less enjoyable in general.
This is so so good and scary. “I can’t stand this place anymore,” he said. “These major tech giants will burn everything to the ground as long as they’re making a profit. They’re not interested in anything that’s going to slow them down.”

i can think of no circumstance where an ai model that is a critical national security risk for foreigners somehow becomes safe for all americans to use.
⚛️ Voici à quoi ressemble réellement la désintégration radioactive... 🤯
This map shows annual truck traffic on European main roads, colored by route distance. The map gives a sense of on which corridors the long distance traffic travels and how far the infrastructure interdependencies within the network road reach. As ever the problem is that credentialism means that students think the goal of getting a degree is to get a bit of paper when in fact it is to learn things and when they use AI to do the learning for them the primary person they cheat is themselves.
AI psychosis is getting to be a noticeable problem. Local scandal where teachers were using GPT to write lesson plans & grade work, eventually the agent developed "grudges" that the teachers adopted. The whole district was taking so much GPT advice it was basically in charge
