In 2015, the Mississippi Legislature passed HB 177, which prevents any law other than the U.S. or MS Constitutions, or U.S. or MS statutes from being enforced in Mississippi courts. The bill was expressly addressed as the “anti-Sharia” law during debate. I think this was not only permissible, but wise.
What Mississippi lawmakers, the majority of whom are Republicans, cannot do under the U.S. Constitution they all swore to defend and protect, is draw a bright line rule that prevents any Muslim from serving in public office. I understand some people may not like this result.
I also understand the concerns in Europe and even places like Dearborn. I happen to believe shared cultural values, adherence to western concepts like rule of law, matter in immigration policy. I am in favor of heightened restrictions on immigration from places that don’t share those commitments. I’m not in favor of dishonest hysteria.
Gee I dunno... could it be because he said women on October 7th deserved to be raped? Or that America deserved 911? Or that we should kill capitalists and let the streets soak in their blood? Or that refugees who escaped communist regimes can suck his c*ck. @RollingStone you're disgusting for laundering this madness.
@NancyMace@RepJayapal If an American imam is actually preaching that Muslims should sacrifice their blood through jihad to establish Islamic supremacy in the United States, that ideology deserves scrutiny and unequivocal condemnation.
I was racking my brain about why DSA's Francesca Hong's "I'm a chef" response to a question about her desire to cancel Thanksgiving seemed so familiar. https://t.co/fbaKZvipwU Then it came to me...https://t.co/GQZjhQZt6C
Bill Maher’s audience audibly gasps when he reads what the Democratic Socialists of America are actually saying out loud:
MAHER: “Trump has told 1 trillion lies, but when he says the DSA are actually COMMUNISTS, that’s not one of them.”
“And it’s not hard to prove it just by quoting the DSA and their candidates.”
“J.D. Vance was on the show, and I told him that if the Democratic Party keeps going in the direction of the DSA, my vote was in play. And all I heard all vacation was, ‘Oh, my God, you’re a Republican now.’ No, that's not what I said. I said in play, and here’s why.”
“Because not a week goes by where I don’t read about some newly chosen, exciting new face in the Democratic Party. And then when that face opens its mouth, the Communist Manifesto or some other crazy shit comes out! Again.”
“Let’s just read the quotes. The DSA platform says: ‘You work as much as you are able and no more than needed.’ If that was any closer to Karl Marx’s dictum, from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs, they’d be sued for plagiarism.”
“New York Mayor Mamdani once tweeted, Karl Marx’s words exactly. They’re not trying to hide it. Their most popular influencer, Hasan Piker, thinks communism is so groovy, he laments the fall of two of the most murderous regimes in history, the Soviet Union and Chairman Mao's China.”
“Mamdani's aide, his top aide, Cea Weaver, said, ‘If you don't believe in the government's sacred right to seize property, it's over.’ And ‘impoverish the white middle class.’ What? That's a goal? You know you're supposed to scare people into voting for you, right?”
“One of the new, soon-to-be Democratic congresspeople, Darlesia Chavalier, supports seizing all properties from landlords and said, ‘Seize the means of production.’ Mamdani has said ‘The end goal is seizing the means of production.’ I think they want to seize the means of production.”
“Now, maybe you missed that in school or missed school altogether, but THAT'S COMMUNISM.”
“Now the coalition within the DSA called the Marxist Unity Group is in ascendance. And I must take them at their word. When their words include, ‘Our commitment is to the long-term struggle for a fully liberated classless society. In a word, communism.’”
“What do they have to do, tweet out ‘Elect more communists’? Oh, yeah, Cea Weaver did that.”
[Shows tweet, audience audibly gasps]
“Yes, [she really did that]! ... People gotta realize this is going on.”
The situation unfolding in Ceuta, Spain deserves far more attention than it’s receiving.
Here are the confirmed facts:
• About 49,000–60,000 migrants crossed into Ceuta from Morocco in roughly 24 hours, an astonishing number for a city of only about 85,000 residents. (Reuters)
• Spain deployed military forces as the city was overwhelmed, while Morocco also reinforced its side of the border in an effort to stop additional crossings. (Reuters)
• Tragically, at least 19 people have died, with some reports placing the death toll even higher. (Reuters)
• Earlier this month, Spain’s Supreme Court ruled that migrants who arrive in Ceuta or Melilla by sea cannot be immediately returned under Spain’s “hot return” policy. They must instead go through the normal immigration process. That ruling is widely believed to have been exploited by human trafficking networks.
The unanswered question is the most important one:
How does nearly 50,000 people move into a city of 85,000 in a single day without significant organization?
Whether this was driven primarily by traffickers using social media, by a deliberate relaxation of Moroccan border enforcement, or by some combination of both remains under investigation. There is historical precedent: in 2021, Morocco relaxed border controls during a diplomatic dispute with Spain, leading to another major migration crisis in Ceuta. (Reuters)
Whatever your politics, this is no longer just a Spanish issue. Ceuta is part of Spain—and therefore part of the European Union. The humanitarian, legal, security, and diplomatic consequences of what happened this week will likely be felt across Europe for years to come.
Victor Davis Hanson: Millionaires Keep Selling Socialism
Hasan Piker's appearance in a Mao suit sparked backlash.
Many of history's socialist movements were led by wealthy elites who condemned capitalism while benefiting from it themselves.
Pro-capitalism advocates focus on the flaws of capitalism while overlooking the mass killings, political repression, and human rights abuses committed under communist regimes.
@VDHanson
@archi_tradition They do: Savannah Historic District, Jackson Square in New Orleans, Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, Bryant Park in Manhattan to name a few.
Ann Widdecombe schools a roomful of woke students on the importance of free speech.
"Only two sorts of people oppose free speech... snowflakes and totalitarians."
"Nobody has the right to live their lives being protected from offence, or from insult, or from hurt feelings."
"It is an occupational hazard of living in society. And if you really can't take it, become a hermit."
"No matter how much we may disagree with somebody, we should defend to the hilt their right to say it."
"You succeed by defeating your opponent, not by wishing him away. You get nowhere by trying not to hear what is being said."
"You may feel virtuous today in what you will not hear, but tomorrow somebody may feel virtuous in not hearing what you have to say."
"Free speech is for all, not for the privileged few."
A majority of Gen Z now supports socialism.
Not because they enjoy starving in gulags, but because public schools are run by NPR interns while Washington fed Gen Z into an economic woodchipper.
🚨 Today the California Senate Committee held a hearing on the “Stop Nick Shirley Act,” known as AB 2624. This bill will criminalize and punish anyone from looking into fraud inside immigrant communities in California.
This bill was created only after I exposed billions of dollars in fraud throughout immigrant communities in the US. “Immigration support services” have become a billion dollar industry in California, and now that the fraud has been exposed, they are trying to criminalize those who look into the fraud.
The bill has passed through the California Assembly and is set to pass through the Senate and then to Governor Newsom’s desk. This bill was created by the Attorney Generals WIFE and will allow him to go after citizens if they film nonprofits and “immigration support services providers”.
Welcome to Califraudia.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has published a national platform titled “Workers Deserve More!” Among its proposals are:
• Abolishing the U.S. Senate.
• Replacing the presidency and the current Supreme Court with institutions accountable to Congress.
• Abolishing the Electoral College.
• Defunding what it calls the “Department of War” (the U.S. Department of Defense).
• Closing overseas U.S. military bases and significantly reducing military spending.
Some well-known elected officials who have been members of or affiliated with the DSA include:
• Zohran Mamdani – Mayor of New York City
• Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – U.S. Representative
• Rashida Tlaib – U.S. Representative
• Julia Salazar – New York State Senator
• Jabari Brisport – New York State Senator
• Tiffany Cabán – New York City Council
These are the DSA’s published positions - Regardless of political affiliation, it’s worth reading organizations’ own platforms and drawing your own conclusions.
California is not only allowing ballots to be counted a week after election day, but even ballots without postmarks. Eventually, you will be able to vote by just shouting out the window of your car at any election official...
@SaltyGoat17 While someone can legally say things like “I hate ICE,” “abolish ICE,” or harshly criticize immigration enforcement, an explicit statement threatening to kill an agent’s spouse and children is in a very different legal category.
