“If you can’t fly, run; if you can’t run, walk; if you can’t walk, crawl; but by all means keep moving.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
Inspired by his words, we push the boundaries of exploration, moving forward for the benefit of humanity.
@StevenSalzberg1 Good example on how science improves itself
Earlier:
genetic studies suggest that there are bacteria 🦠 found more in men ♂️ than in women ♀️
Now:
We map 🧬 in the Y chromosome.
"Bacterial" sequences turned out to be parts of the Y chromosome that were misannotated
👏👏
@BillyM2k What would be a way to explain the ability to evaluate something properly and asking the right questions straight away to properly understand the current “state” something is in. A project for example, an idea or effort. More chance of success if understanding that.
@theapplehub Apple sells unbelievably popular products. They didn’t waste billions like a lot of other tech companies have on things people don’t really want. Apple is doing just fine.
Why algorithms matter. They have taken away the town hall feel and amplified the junk. I knew about Covid before it hit the states because of twitter. X today simply does not have that power. Too much junk to filter due to the algo.
I’m an Altadena resident living a mile away from Eaton Canyon. I was impacted and displaced by the wildfires. When I read that post, I struggled to believe it. I scrolled through the comments and saw the email screenshot, my heart just sank. I even commented on it. I’m just getting tired of this issue being politicized. My wife and I went through our street a couple of times. The first time, we were on our roof hosing it down desperately with our neighbors as houses around us were ablaze. By the time we made our second trip up, half our street was gone. Neighbors who lost their homes were walking the streets shocked beyond words. We’re tired and defeated. I tried using this app to request for help but my posts never got amplified so I just went through known WhatsApp channels instead. It breaks my heart that disinformation does get amplified right now. I don’t think any of us impacted are looking to politicize this. We just want help!
@Caspersight Folks with horses have to go out and break up the ice on their water and metal shoes get huge clumps of snow so they spend all morning cleaning the feet and making sure water isn’t frozen. I don’t know anyone with a farm with heated water out in the fields. Too expensive.
@Caspersight@meme040404 Well they would be serving the sidewalk not touching anything and the furthest from the house so… seems possible. But it is odd they didn’t melt a bit or something but we need a closer look.
