Last year, our office surveyed the community and identified 107 intersections in need of daylighting to improve pedestrian safety. We shared this with @NYC_DOT.
At this week’s Transportation Cmte hearing, I asked DOT why daylighting has only been implemented at 2 corners.
We've been asking for years that @NYCMayor provide sustainable funding for public space equity — Open Streets, play streets, skate and bike classes — but instead of listening, he decided to defund us. Tell Mayor Adams we want open streets!https://t.co/9pR4UobZeA
It is an unfortunate reality that moving street safety projects forward requires proving immense community support, rather than prioritizing the best outcomes. We empathize with our Astoria colleagues — please take a moment to sign their petition for safer streets on 31st Ave.
We're thrilled to announce the Vanderbilt Avenue Open Street will be back for our 6th season in 2025! Vanderbilt is a volunteer run program, so we count on your support to make sure it is the best that it can be. Please consider making a donation! https://t.co/VRCFAi2cPM
Open Streets are a hugely valuable community resource that we all enjoy at the expense of a lot of tough volunteer labor - please help make the Vanderbilt Ave Open Street a reality for the 6th year in a row!

Just yesterday @UnderhillOSCC was featured on PIX11 as @NYCMayor took a victory lap for making the street safer.
Yet he's been privately meeting with opponents of the project, and is holding a meeting Monday to discuss removal of safety improvements.

Once again organizers and neighbors are being forced to defend @vanderbiltbk and @UnderhillOSCC as @NYCMayor holds a last minute town hall about these programs after meeting with local opponents.

Thrilled to see the final touches going in on the Underhill Bike Boulevard!
The community really wanted these traffic calming measures, and the most extensive public outreach effort ever done by @NYC_DOT for a SIP proved that. Can we finally get the Bedford PBL next @NYCMayor???
@brycecovert@UnderhillOSCC@NYC_DOT Pulled from NYC open data. Underhill has seen fewer than 10 crashes per year going back to installation of temporary traffic calming in 2020. Now it's even lower, with only 1 crash so far in 2024.
Today @NYC_DOT informed us that the speed limit on the Underhill Bike Boulevard will be reduced to 10 mph.
Underhill has seen >80% reduction in crashes thanks to the bike blvd treatment. Now the new speed limit will also lower the risk of serious injury from a crash to below 10%

I am calling all my reps again to say two things:
1. THANK YOU for holding.
2. Get in front of cameras/put out statements saying, "We're starting June 30 and the governor can't stop that. She is not above the law."
To put this at the top of your feed, when you call your electeds, it's a two-part message:
1. Keep supporting congestion pricing. It's still the law and the best policy to steady transit funding while reducing congestion.
2. Do not bail out Kathy Hochul. Vote against the IOU
Mad that @GovKathyHochul has done a 180 on congestion pricing, wasting over a decade of progress & sticking NYers with delays, chaos & pollution?
