Karnataka has registered the highest growth rate in per capita Net State Domestic Product at constant prices between 2011-12 and 2024-25. Look at chart 1 below that I have prepared from RBI’s Handbook on Statistics on the Indian Economy: table 10 (https://t.co/reMFi598mE)

However over 2023-24 Karnataka has become 3rd fastest growing economy in terms of PC NSDP, Tamil Nadu and Odisha have done better. Second chart courtesy @puram_politics

Important take-aways: Over the long term Karnataka has registered the fastest growth in per capita income. Karnataka’s growth is nearly 2 % points above the growth rate of the Indian economy.

In the last 2 years Tamil Nadu has picked pace while Karnataka and Odisha are neck and neck. Look at the following data:

Odisha is growing on the strength of its mineral development. Tamil Nadu has a more diverse economy with multiple growth poles. Tamil Nadu also does better than Karnataka in terms of social indicators in health and education.

Pathway for Karnataka is clear: it needs to focus on job creation by investing in mutiple growth poles: Beyond Bengaluru needs to succeed and we need to see more growth in Kalburgi, Belagavi, Hubli Dharwad, Ballary, Mysuru, Dakshina Kannada-Udupi clusters. ಇಲಾಖೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಗದಿತ ಕಾಲಮಿತಿಯೊಳಗೆ ನೇಮಕಾತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮುಂಬಡ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದದೇ ಅಭ್ಯರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಅವಕಾಶ ವಂಚಿತರಾಗಿ ಅನ್ಯಾಯಕೊಳ್ಳಗಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಅಭ್ಯರ್ಥಿಗಳು, ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ನೌಕರರ ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಹಿತದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಉಚ್ಚನ್ಯಾಯಲಯ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿವಿಧ ವಿಭಾಗೀಯ ಪೀಠಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇತ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗದೇ ಉಳಿದಿರುವ ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾದ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಾಲಮಿತಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಬೇಕು ಹಾಗೂ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ವಕೀಲರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಮನ್ವಯ ಸಾಧಿಸಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಲಮಿತಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಇತ್ಯರ್ಥಪಡಿಸುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಕ್ರಮವಹಿಸಲು ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಲಾಖಾ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಿಗೆ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನ ನೀಡಬೇಕು.

BDA (Bengaluru Development Authority) @BDAOfficialGok addresses public grievances through a systematic, transparent, and accountable process—streamed live on YouTube for full public visibility.

Every Thursday, from 3 PM to 6 PM, a list of citizens (as mentioned in the image below) is invited for a public hearing chaired by the Hon’ble Chairman of BDA, @mlanaharis, in the presence of all relevant officers along with connected files and documents.

Both citizens and officers are heard. Decisions are made by the Chairman on the spot, with notings recorded directly on the files and endorsements issued immediately. The entire process is open for public viewing via YouTube Live.

The procedure is simple: every Thursday, grievances from one of the four zones (North, South, East, West) are taken up—up to 30 cases per session. Citizens only need to send a photo of their written request to the BDA helpline at 9483166622. Within 24 hours, they receive an acknowledgment, and the date of the hearing is communicated via text and voice call. On the appointed day, the citizen presents their case—no need to meet the Commissioner or run from table to table.

This new system is gradually stabilizing. It is understood that the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, @DKShivakumar, who also oversees Bengaluru Development, has issued clear directives to make BDA more citizen-oriented, transparent, and professional.

The Chairman ensures his presence at every meeting—even via video conference when away from Bengaluru. Officials are steadily adapting to this culture of public accountability.

A new chapter is unfolding at BDA. Continued public support will be key to strengthening and sustaining this transformative process.
