As BCG highlights, managers and leaders are now more likely than frontline employees to believe their jobs could disappear in the next decade. This signals a structural shift in how organizations distribute coordination, oversight, and decision authority.

1️⃣ Authority Shift: AI increasingly automates managerial coordination work, not just repetitive operational tasks. Reporting, monitoring, scheduling, and workflow orchestration are becoming system functions.

2️⃣ Structural Blind Spot: Most organizations still frame AI disruption as a frontline workforce issue. The larger redesign may happen inside middle management layers built around information flow and process supervision.

3️⃣ Talent Implication: Future managers will likely be evaluated less on control and administration, and more on judgment, escalation handling, and cross-functional decision-making under uncertainty.

This is why managerial anxiety is rising even as AI adoption expands.

The real workforce disruption is not only about replacing tasks. It is about redesigning who coordinates work, approves decisions, and governs execution inside AI-augmented organizations.
