@MLJHaynes Saying the SSPX is “Protestant” such a lazy and dishonest statement. The Protestant churches despite being separated into various denominations, all have certain core beliefs that define the group. The SSPX reject basically all those core beliefs.
@LutheranAnswers@Hezekiah_Judge You’re making a category error. The ELCA as a group as abandoned the gospel. “Baptist” writ large aren’t responsible for Furtick nor have all their various groups abandoned the gospel. Should the LCMS be called pagans because of the ELCA?
@zoomer_upnorth Imagine being that devoted to a fallen institution that you actively beg people to endanger the Gospel in the lives by hitching themselves to it as it ever increasingly crumbles into dust.
@joaosilveiraaa@ID_VagabondRick “This comes from the beginning of the Church...” yeah, sure it does buddy. Im sure the apostles were just hanging out in a room consecrating a bunch of Eucharists like they’re punching the clock at a factory.
@MattOsterndorf I think you’re mission the point. It’s kinda a bad look on the LCMS that they have very little presence on any of the influential spaces. The best they’ve got is maybe Brian Wolfmueller… who’s not exactly the greatest
@AvoidPerception@BarelyProt@Master2udarnit “Factions within a denom” is not something unique to the LCMS. Yet other provinces, even Lutheran ones, present a less skitzo or domineering leadership style.
@SubstituteS23 They’re separate bodies though, not districts in the same denomination. Plus, Cooper has said thr AALC has specifically avoided planting churches in towns with a strong LCMS presence.
@AvoidPerception@BarelyProt@Master2udarnit Oh I get how insidious liberal theology can be, but it’s also a convenient cover for “we want things ‘or way’ but we’re never actually consistent on what we actually want”. And the latter is historically the LCMS experience.
@BarelyProt@AvoidPerception@Master2udarnit Nothing shows how galaxy brained LCMS leadership has been since the beginning is how they led the initiative to create the LBW (Green Hymnal) only to leave their own project right before it was done to create their own Sam’s Club version…
