octane rating is abt how the fuel burns (knock resistance), not how much energy it contains. Ethanol still carries ~35% less energy per kg than petrol, despite higher octane, u still get mileage drop. Higher octane ≠ higher fuel economy. Ultimately it will burn pockets of people

Ethanol's energy content is the core issue in the blending. Pure ethanol has ~26 MJ/kg versus petrol's ~42 MJ/kg - about 35% lower. Blending 20% ethanol drops overall energy content proportionally.

Engine wear: Ethanol is corrosive, and older rubber seals, fuel lines, and pumps can degrade faster.
Effective cost: Older BS4/BS3 vehicles can see 3–6%, sometimes 10–20% higher effective fuel cost since you're refilling more often for the same distance.

🚨 Toyota responds to the viral Innova Hycross E20 controversy!

After the owner blamed E20 petrol for repeated breakdowns and fuel system issues, Toyota has now issued an official statement.

According to Toyota:

✅ Innova Hycross is fully E20-compatible
✅ The issue was caused by contaminated (non-standard) fuel, not E20 petrol
✅ No damage was found to the vehicle or fuel system
✅ The fuel tank and lines were cleaned, refilled with standard E20 fuel, and the vehicle was returned to the customer.

The company has advised customers to refuel only at authorised and reputed fuel stations to reduce the risk of fuel contamination.
