40-Hz sound stimulation shows long lasting Alzheimer’s effects in aged monkeys.
Researchers in China tested whether 40-Hz auditory stimulation could influence Alzheimer’s related pathology in aged rhesus monkeys (26–31 years old), a primate model closer to humans than mice.
The monkeys were exposed to a 1-kHz pure tone modulated at 40 Hz, 1 hour per day for 7 days. After treatment, levels of β-amyloid in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) increased sharply: Aβ42 rose by ~205% and Aβ40 by ~201%. About five weeks later, these elevated levels remained stable, suggesting a sustained biological effect rather than a short term response.
The researchers interpret the rise in CSF amyloid as a possible sign of enhanced clearance of amyloid from the brain, not increased production.
The study supports the idea that non-invasive 40 Hz sensory stimulation could be a low risk, drug free approach to modulating Alzheimer’s disease processes, though human trials are still needed to confirm benefit.

Scientists have uncovered a biological mechanism that may finally offer real relief for chronic nerve pain by restoring the tiny powerhouses inside our cells.
Researchers just discovered that sensory neurons rely on fresh mitochondria supplied by surrounding satellite glial cells. When this natural “mitochondria transfer system” breaks down, neurons lose energy, start malfunctioning, and chronic neuropathic pain takes over.
The team identified a key protein, MYO10 (myosin-10), which helps build microscopic nanotubes that shuttle healthy mitochondria into damaged nerve cells. When MYO10 is disrupted, pain intensifies. When the transfer is boosted, pain drops.
In preclinical tests, restoring mitochondria in nerve cells led to:
> Up to ~40–50% reduction in pain behaviors
> Relief lasting up to 48 hours after a single treatment
> Major improvement in models of diabetic neuropathy and chemotherapy induced nerve damage

Framingham data show that raising your omega-3 index from ~4% to ~8% is associated with about a 5-year increase in life expectancy and ~90% lower risk of sudden cardiac death

Because we don’t store vitamin C long-term, maintaining steady, optimal plasma levels likely requires regular intake of vitamin C-rich fruits and vegetables, supplementation, or a combination of the two.
China Just Reverse Engineered the Most Advanced Chip Making Machine in the World. Thread:
1. It was considered unthinkable but China just developed its first homegrown EUV lithography prototype - the world's most advanced chip making machine. This could reshape global power.
2. EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) lithography is the holy grail of chipmaking. It etches insanely tiny circuits on silicon wafers using lasers blasting molten tin droplets to create UV light. Only one company in the world - ASML of the Netherlands, has mastered it, after €6 billion and 17 years of R&D.
3. For years, the US has choked China's access via export bans. But a secret Shenzhen team — led by ex-ASML engineers — reverse engineered old ASML parts to build a working prototype in early 2025. Just months ago, ASML's CEO had called it "years away."
4. China's not churning out EUV chips yet — that could happen by 2030. But with Huawei and SMIC ramping up R&D, the breakthrough means China is now a major player in the big league.
5. Why this should worry the free world. Chips power everything — phones, cars, EVs, missiles, AI servers. Communist China's advanced breakthrough could translate into supply chain chokeholds. 6. Where does India stand? We're late to the party but have pumped in $18 billion in 10 approved projects, with the first homegrown chips likely by end-2025. But delays in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu fabrication plants, and talent gaps mean we're still import-dependent for 95% of our requirements.
7. India's problem is our reticence to hiring foreigners - especially retired experts, scientists and technicians who can bring high tech production via the back door. When an Indian Govt defence company reverse engineered the AK-47 assault rifle, its production was halted when Mikhail Kalashnikov arrived in India and requested India not to go ahead. Curiously, Kalashnikov did not travel to China, Bulgaria, Romania or Poland - all of which produce knockoff AK-47s. The Russians know the Indian weakness to be seen as the good guys. That's ironic considering the huge industry of scam call centres in India.
8. Everyone steals technology. China stole Maglev from Germany and now sells it worldwide. The US used Russian made RD-180 rocket engines, built by Energomash, for the first stage of its Atlas V rockets for decades.
9. In 1991, when the Soviet Union broke up, China and South Korea hired the best talent from Russia and leapfrogged ahead in key areas. China grabbed the best of Russian space technology. Among other things, the South Koreans got OLED which was developed by the Russians and locked away in Soviet vaults.
10. All this time, India was sleeping or embroiled in political horse trading. We need to pump more into R&D, skills, and incentives - the kind that gets foreigners to bring their top technology with them. Or risk being a chip colony forever.
