They have different pay bands
When you give an innovator operational duties you’re taxing their time and energy. The opportunity cost makes no sense for these situations

Sounds great in theory, reality is unless you’re 1 of maybe 5 companies where the equity potential is so outsized that nothing matters
You can’t actually afford to this with top talent
@cryptopunk7213 This has to be a pure speed and culture bet, because you’re not really going to get much cost benefit from 1 person (engineering, product, design) and dual ic-manager teams if you have to raise wages to account for added workload and attrition impact gets worse
