Porn star Kendra Sunderland was a 19-year-old college freshman when one library video got her charged and banned from campus. Then she went on local TV and said she wanted to do everything but hardcore porn.
She filmed it at Oregon State University on her second or third day of webcam work. “It was all business,” she said. “I knew that it would get me more viewers and get me more money.”
She thought only that night’s viewers would see it. Someone recorded it, and it ended up on Pornhub. “I definitely never thought it would be like millions of people.”
Her parents already knew about the webcam work. She had set up a Twitter account for her cam name and typed in her real phone number. It messaged people who had her number, and one of her mom’s closest friends told her mom.
“I didn’t have the guts to tell them,” she said.
She left school. She was charged with public indecency and faced up to a year in jail. She pleaded guilty in 2015 and was fined $1,000.
She went on to shoot porn and win AVN Awards.
“I kind of just wish that it would have been a different video that got me famous.”
Did that video ruin her life or make it?
Lana Rhoades was the most searched actress on Pornhub in 2019, with 345 million views. She says she left porn with about $100,000. She still doesn’t own the rights to many of her videos.
Her real name is Amara Maple. At 13 she watched Playboy girls on TV and wanted that life. She worked as a waitress and stripper in Chicago, and at 19 she flew to LA.
She says she got around $1,200 a scene.
Nobody forced her, and she has said so herself. “I never technically said no.” She says producers knew how to manipulate 18 to 20 year olds. The requests got more extreme, and she began having panic attacks before shoots.
Then she met an influencer with 3 million followers. He made $15,000 a post. “I’m getting paid $1,500,” she told him.
She walked away and built her own audience. She says she’s now a multi-millionaire.
It didn’t end there. She has a son now. She has called her past a life sentence, and in 2022 she said porn should be made illegal. In 2025 she reportedly asked sites to remove more than 400 of her videos.
She made that choice at 19. Should it follow her son too?

@Skynoxsx 16 years of 12-hour trauma shifts, and she finally left because the schedule kept costing her better money. What does that say about ER nurse pay?
