4 schools hit in the last 4 days.
Since the war began, two thirds of @UNRWA schools in Gaza have been hit, some were bombed out, many severely damaged.

Schools have gone from safe places of #education & hope for children to overcrowded shelters and often ending up a place of death & misery.

Nine months in, under our watch, the relentless, endless killings, destruction and despair continue.
Gaza is no place for children.

Remarkable: @SIPRIorg, an independent research institute that tracks armed conflicts and military expenditure, reports that 47 percent (!) of Israel's arms imports in 2023 came from Germany. With this, Germany is the 2nd largest exporter of arms to Israel, just 6% behind the US.

Grateful to @David_Cameron for such clarity in his response to my letter. He confirms, contrary to some claims:

- The UN has NOT requested the Kerem Shalom crossing be closed on Saturdays. Israel closes it due to the Sabbath.

- Aid not getting into Gaza due to “arbitrary denials by the Govt of Israel and lengthy clearance procedures, including multiple screenings and narrow opening windows in daylight hours.”

- UK aid for Gaza has been routinely held up waiting for Israeli permissions. Some UK funded aid stuck at border for just under three weeks waiting for approval.

- One of the key reasons for distribution issues within Gaza is that Israel is preventing the necessary staff from getting visas.

- Israel has the ability to turn the taps back on and get water into Gaza - he calls on them to do so.
