@WolfprwX Donkeys are protective. They are not skittish like horses are. Like almost all animals they are protective of their young. Donkeys are sometimes used by ranchers and farmers to protect goats, sheep, and calves. Donkeys are territorial and will kill coyotes.
"Played live only a dozen times, in 1966 and 1967, ‘Cream Puff War’ was one of the Dead's earliest originals, written by Jerry Garcia, one of the few songs for which Jerry wrote the lyrics as well as the music. This rendition is one of the hottest, complete with a big jam that builds until it hits a huge explosive ending." - David Lemieux

“The Grateful Dead's first big jamming vehicle, ‘Viola Lee Blues’ is heard here in one of its first live performances. The song only stuck around from 1966 to 1970, but it always hit several intensely psychedelic peaks, as you'll hear here.” - David Lemieux

Out there, beyond what we can name, there is more than darkness.
There are vast arcs of space and light, shaped by forces we can’t see but can measure.
Mysteries of the universe stretch farther than our understanding can reach.
And sometimes, just sometimes, the sky answers back in colour, reminding us that “empty” was never the right word.

On this day in 1970, the Grateful Dead touched down in England for the first time to perform at the Hollywood Festival in Lower Finney Green Farm in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Enjoy a bit of the show opener, “Casey Jones.”
What’s more Berkeley than a Grateful Dead show 👀🌈
On this day in 1982, the Grateful Dead rocked the Berkeley hills on night two of a three-show run. The Dead played twenty-nine shows at the Greek Theater between 1967 and 1989. Acoustics at the theater were excellent, with sound enveloping the audience off the dome-shaped walls, making tracks like “Space,” “Not Fade Away,” and “U.S. Blues” louder and more impactful. After three nights of jamming, everyone was sent home with a neat “Brokedown Palace” before their 1983 return.

“I fought the law, and the law won” 🚨
"I Fought The Law," written by Sonny Curtis of The Crickets and popularized by The Bobby Fuller Four, has been covered by hundreds of artists, from The Clash to Stray Cats, Bruce Springsteen, and more. In March 1993, the Grateful Dead performed the song for the first time, going on to play it roughly 35 times through June 1995. Watch their full rendition live at Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, NY on 06/13/93, available now on the Grateful Dead YouTube Channel.
