@roberts170 My personal suspicion is that a "walking caucus" style vote was the first sort of informal plurality vote.

Everyone gathers around their chosen leader, people eyeball the groups and consolidate a little bit, and the minority group(s) either give in or leave and go their own way.

So at 0.4%, it's present, but not nearly as present as under some reasonable distributions, and actual data on general preference distributions is a little murky.)

This is higher than some types of spatial assumption (0%) and lower than uniform distributions over ordinal preferences (6.25% to 8.8% depending on type of uniformity).

To comment on how this extends within a #VotingTheory context, a #BordaCount strategy generalizes as "spread the viable candidates as much as possible and then fill in the gaps with the non-viable candidates."
