I congratulate Sister Medhin Tesfay for receiving the prestigious #Oscar#Romero International Award at the #Trócaire 50th Anniversary Conference in recognition of her extraordinary courage and commitment to the transformative and life-saving work of the Daughters of Charity for nearly three decades. I had the opportunity to witness her great humanitarian works in #Tigray & we are very proud of her achievement. We thank you sister!

Refugee Camp in #Shire, Central #Tigray. Words fail me. I missed them for a long time while visiting the self-built camp around the primary schools of Shirè, 6500 families, 34,000 people who live here alone.

Internationally-mediated ceasefires must complement locally-negotiated ceasefires for maximum impact.
Similarly, international monitoring of ceasefires must complement local monitoring of ceasefires for maximum accountability.
Engaging civic groups is central to this.

Interesting & astute article from @CedricdeConing https://t.co/Qje9WA6zTs on how the “stabilisation dilemma” inherent in current large UN peacekeeping missions shows the need for a fundamental rethink of ceasefire, peace, & political transition processes 1/2
News: #Tigray#Orthodox church leaders announce plans to ordain 10 episcopate https://t.co/BbdtZzrtzs
*Today’s decision by the religious leaders in Tigray came ahead of Wednesday’s expected press announcement by His Holiness Abuna Mathias, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, following the conclusion on Monday of this year’s Assembly of Priests.
*During the opening of the Assembly, the Patriarch cautioned that ongoing challenges the Church is facing in #Oromia & #Tigray regions were “going beyond” the Church and becoming the people’s challenges that required wisdom to be addressed.
A humanitarian worker says the safety of the Tigrayan refugees has been raised with the UN, but that no measures had been taken to help. “They didn’t really want to hear about it, to be honest."

@reda_getachew, this is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! The public expects drastic action. It is a sign of deeper problems which every section of the society must also fight.
In the last few weeks I have been engaged by diplomats, international humanitarian organization representatives and, more importantly, the larger Tigray community leaders and opinion makers on the issue of aid diversion. In light of the gravity of the problem & mounting evidence

Last Friday, my house keeper had an accident. She fell from a ladder while cleaning for holiday. Seeing her blood on the floor, her bruised face and my kids screaming for help was a disturbing seen. I took her to emergency room where they did a procedure and is stable now.
Today is a happy🙂 & sad ☹️ manifestation of the #perpetualpeacebuilding concepts in reality: conflict escalation in #Sudan🇸🇩; steps for #peacetalks in #Colombia🇨🇴 with FARC dissident and reflecting on #GFA25 in NI. There is always ups and down on the pathway to #peace.
We call for peace in the Sudan conflict. The @acrl_rfp sends its deepest condolences to the loved ones of civilians who have lost their lives in the conflict in #Sudan The people of Sudan deserve a peaceful and prosperous future. #Sudan#Peace
Right! & dramatic incidents in the name of religions consume gullible African lives more. Quacks misuse religions for various self-serving ends. Including for wars on the innocent ethnic/religious others. Religions should b deployed for promotion of human dignity & peace 4all.
Organised religion debased and dehumanising.
Just in last two weeks - one holy man asks a boy to suck his tongue (Tibet). A pastor brainwashes dozens to starve themselves to death "to meet Jesus" (Kenya).
