Delhi is finally taking up one persistent ask by citizens, a scientific approach to tackling dairy waste, and this could be a game changer for the Yamuna👏👏👏
MCD, in collaboration with the Delhi Government and National Dairy Development Board, is rolling out a comprehensive dairy waste management plan that focuses on biogas generation, decentralised sewage treatment and drainage overhaul.

* The first 200 TPD biogas plant is already operational at Nangli dairy.
* Two more are under construction at Goyla & Ghogha.
* 10 new biogas plants planned across Ghazipur, Bhalswa, Mangolpuri, Rohini, Sagarpur, Pitampura, Sarita Vihar, Madanpur Khadar, Masoodpur & more, cumulatively spread over 35 acres.

These plants will convert cattle dung into biogas (clean energy) instead of letting it enter drains and ultimately the Yamuna.
Additionally, ₹34 crore has been proposed for decentralised sewage treatment plants (100 KLD capacity each) in major dairy clusters like Nangli, Goyla, Kakrola, Ghogha, Bhalswa & Jharoda, along with new drains and sedimentation chambers to trap dung before it pollutes waterways.

Why this matters:
* Reduces untreated waste entering drains.
* Cuts methane emissions by converting waste into energy.
* Improves Yamuna water quality.
* Strengthens local sanitation infrastructure. 
* Supports sustainable dairy operations.
