I just started sponsoring KDE for $5/mo, everyone should do the same for software they use and love, it may not be much for you but if everyone did the same they'd be drowning in money.
Don’t be fooled by the wave of states “recognizing Palestine.” This is not liberation, it’s a move meant to neutralize our struggle. Meanwhile, Gaza is in ruins, countless killed, land annexed in the West Bank. Symbolic recognition while Palestine is erased in real time.

@Adev@basit_ayantunde Is there anything wrong with reimplementing? Allocation strategy is one of many reasons one might want to reimplement and thats fine imo
I'm making a memory-safe implementation of C/C++. It's called Fil-C. Currently working on making it fanatically compatible with C and C++ so that lots of programs can be made memory-safe with zero or minimal changes.

@rfleury @Mathieu_Ta It does, on my pc. I just have 16G ram and ryzen 7 4700U cpu with a HDD. vscode starts beating it consistently as the project size gets bigger.
@rfleury @Mathieu_Ta Its not changing the problem. Its just making the problem big/small. If it takes longer than for e.g vscode to open a 300 files project, then its objectively worse than vscode in this regard.
@rfleury @Mathieu_Ta @16footcatgirl Reasonable depends on a lot of factors like what hardware you are running it on. If it doesn't work when the problem actually gets harder then its not really a 'fast' or 'good' software.
@rfleury @Mathieu_Ta @16footcatgirl 4coder is awful if you try to open any medium/big projects in it. With bigger projects it just ooms, I am surprised people say its good.
@thorstenball Interesting stuff. I landed some optimizations for Kate text editor for similar reasons, row/col <-> offset conversion. It would be interesting to measure how both editors perform in large editing ops using multi cursors.

@Cephi_sui@LinaAsahi@__phantomderp Thats kind of the point of kate, not an IDE. You can disable lsp and other plugins. But yeah, maybe its not for everyone. To be clear, I was looking for feedback to improve things, thanks for your response :)
