@JenGriffinFNC "which now stands at more than Abbey Gate and the Afghan withdrawal".
What's the relevance between a COIN/FID engagement turned mass terror attack/suicide bombing and a high intensity conflict against a neer peer competitor?
Imagine comparing the two...
@mazprop2@Pataramesh It's adorable that you think the USAF/USN still has tankers and major assets in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, etc.
They're all in Jordan and Israel or obscure desert FOB/FOPs out in the Saudi or Iraqi desert and constantly being moved...
@Cheekybaua@OSINTWarfare F-22s aren't needed anymore for A2A/CAP duties as Iran's Airforce threat is non existent. F-35s and Rhino's with SM-6s are completely capable of dealing with any F-4/5, 14 or Mig-29.
Having Raptors sitting around within MRBM range would be pure negligence.
@kamikaziking420@Burak76225634@Omicron_6@KyleJGlen Patriot in the 90s have almost zero relevance to Patriot systems today. We went from proximity blast fragmentation warheads to HTK (Hit to Kill) because of lessons learned in the Gulf War. Patriot systems are batting 80%+ against SRBM-MRBM threats in the Gulf.
@jurgen_nauditt Your point still stands. Yes, absolutely. Ukraine and the West in general need more SAM/ABM systems and effectors in particular.
However, the best defense is a good offense and targeting the archer/not the arrow. Ukraine needs ballistic missiles and more bunker busting LACMs.
@jurgen_nauditt Patriot is for SRBM threats and heavy 300mm+ caliber guided rockets like Tornado-S. You don't waste PAC-3 effectors on cruise missiles unless it's targeting the battery/TEL itself and it's the only system in place. Not every BM threat can or should be engaged either. Priorities.
@GordonGChang The Iranians need to be bombed back to the stone age for several more weeks before you can demand unconditional surrender. The conditions now don't warrant that, not even close. We'd be lucky to get the SOH open or HEU diluted/removed. If we want more, that'll require MIL action.
