According to the @NFPA, the risk of dying in reported home structure fires is 55% lower in homes w/ working smoke alarms than in homes w/ no alarms or none that worked.
It's cold out, but warm up safely! Heating equipment is a leading cause of home fire deaths. Keep anything that can burn at least three feet from heating equipment, never use an oven to heat your home, and test smoke alarms monthly.
