We H.E.A.R.T (Help Educate to Achieve Reform Together) Florida.
You may choose to look the other way but you can never again say you did not know ~W.W.~
22 states still sentence kids to die in prison—Arizona is one of them. That’s why we’re here. It’s time to end life without parole for children. #endJLWOP#nochildbornbad
Holidays are harder for them.
Lockdowns are the norm.
It should not be asking too much,
at least until the beginning of the New Year.
Treat Mass Incarcerated People as Humans.

@glrutkosx@Lfender39@innocence Yes, that's very true. Many wrongful convictions from over zealous prosecutors who hid evidence, lied, coerced and did whatever necessary to get their conviction, regardless of the cost of human lives, not to mention unknowing, unsuspecting and uneducated taxpayers. Such a waste.
Extra prayers for loved ones behind those concrete walls. Nowhere to go in floods, destruction or mayhem. Please keep our loved ones safe and away from harm. Many of those buildings are very old and already in disrepair...❤️🙏🏻❤️
@Lfender39@glrutkosx Doesn't surprise me the ignorant jerk saying choose better is A. A Harris supporter and B. Doesn't realize our prisons are full of people wrongfully convicted, not all are guilty of which they were charged. Thankfully, @innocence understands this. Stay safe, my friend ❤️
Please add Florida prisons to that list, too!! Our loved ones suffer behind those concrete walls with no A/C or adequate ventilation in our state prisons. Goes beyond cruel and unusual punishment! 🥵
About 85,000 incarcerated Texans are estimated to be at risk of heat stroke and other heat-related conditions, even to the point of death. The Innocence Project supports the effort to demand A/C in state prisons to ensure basic human rights are upheld. https://t.co/qvr9SsErsN
Sadly, when the "budget cuts" come down the line, FDOC is always on the list. What is the result? Mental health and substance abuse programs go bye-bye. Those types of programs have a direct effect on rehabilitation. Take those away, and what do we have left?
For every new bill to “Get Tough on Crime”, the costs associated with those extra beds, should have an additional cost of the same amount added to the @FL_Corrections budget on top of the requested budget numbers for education and reentry.
If we operate as a Correctional Department there would be #LessVictimsLessCrime
With a median grade level of 3.9 when entering, we must make education and vocational training a priority.
@SA18PIO We believe the time has come for the Seminole Co SA's office to begin a Conviction Integrity Review Unit. We're hearing more and more cases sentenced to ridiculously long or harsh sentences coming from Seminole Co FL that many times the defendant didn't commit.
If we do not act before Oct. 17, #RobertRoberson could soon become the first person in U.S. history to be executed based on the debunked and discredited shaken baby syndrome hypothesis. Sign the petition: https://t.co/L5ABcjNppX
I guess Corrections really isn't paying off then. They just keep locking people up and very little changes or improves. Just can't figure out why lawmakers haven't realized this and pass bills to bring real, true change. Too many profit off of incarceration, except our LO's 😢
Here is the staffing shortages as identified by @KPMG. We have over 20 of 55 facilities with double digit staffing shortages.
I’ve also attached the Immediate Critical Need of $2.2 Billion, so you can see that the bulk of the money is for things like electrical, plumbing, windows, roofs, flooring and full remodels.
Did you know?? @FL_Corrections The beautiful K-9’s have portable A/C units in their kennels (rightly so!) but the incarcerated people are kept in cement cells w/Steel doors at temps exceeding 100 degrees? When will these people be treated like dogs..or even better.. like human beings? @GovRonDeSantis@BernyJacques@Sen_Albritton@orlandosentinel@TRIB_editorial@miamiherald
#flprisoncrisis #BeatTheHeat
This summer heat is ridiculously unforgiving. Knowing our state prisons here in FL are not air conditioned, is a crime in itself. The beat the heat challenges haven't brought change, no bills passed to bring change and the list goes on...
THINK BEFORE YOU VOTE IN NOVEMBER!! 🥵
We have until Oct. 17 to stop Texas from making the irreversible mistake of executing #RobertRoberson, an innocent person. Join me and @innocence in fighting for Robert by adding your name to his petition: https://t.co/XDKcQmKjEg
It's sad to say this but when I feel guilty in my air conditioned car, house, work place or anywhere that has A/C in this crazy heat, while I know my LO and countless others are suffering in those concrete dungeons, I assure you there are many politicians NOT getting my vote!! 😡
I believe it comes down to lawmakers, legislators and the Governor to actually give a damn about our LO's incarcerated for there to be real, true change. Here in FL, many agree with cj bills brought to them but then don't fight for them to become law. Our Gov is the worst one 😡
I know that if people were able to see the people inside serving this sentence we would be able to see true change in this rehabilation state. LWOP are the ones creating the healing spaces in the prison. Look at the facts....#beyondLWOP
That would be interesting if we had a Governor here in Florida that actually gave a damn about mass incarceration, or inmates, or their families, or them cooking in this heat...yes, caring would actually go a long way!! ❤️🩹
To top it off, as if this alone isn't enough, the lawmakers, legislators and people who CAN make a difference just don't seem to care. Nothing is done about it. Even media has touched on this topic to no avail. So what's next??
This video was taken by an inmate at Hardee CI. with a contraband cell phone, the response was by officers commonly known for abusing inmates. These Officers take advantage of situations such as this where two inmates were fighting and when this goon squad arrived, they separated the inmates, restrained them in hand cuffs, and when moving them through areas that they know cameras are not located they take their shot, head shots usually.
Some of these very Officers are famous for punching and slapping inmates in the head. This is a perfect opportunity as it will be covered up as injuries made by the inmate fight. The inmate won't report it because he just got his bell rung and doesn't want more of that abuse.
Since Warden Christopher Edelen has taken over at this prison force has skyrocketed. That is proven by the reported incidents, but you don't see the unreported incidents and there are many. Lieutenants Doll and Bonnet openly compete for who can get the most uses of force. They tell the inmates how the Warden approves and encourages this competition as he too brags of having over 390 uses of force in a single year when he was in charge of inmate dorms.
This is illegal, immoral, unprofessional and unacceptable and yet it is going on. The why I am told is because this Warden is close friends with Regional Director Brian Riedl and Regional Director Angela Gordon. One inmates family observed Angela Gordon and Warden Edelen on a cruise ship and the story witnessed is wild. This gives him power other Wardens are not afforded.
The dirt at Hardee will remain under the rug while nepotism reins. They all work together on the coverup. Warden Edelen was part of the administration at Lake CI where I worked and the same kind of activity flourished under his management, yet he got away with it then too. When you're in bed with the executive leadership your always safe and protected in the spotlight. The FBI should investigate but like with Lowell CI, they report it is corrupt and nothing is actually done about it. It is the administration that allows this to go on. Inmates are human beings, and they don't deserve the abuse they suffer at the hands of these so-called professionals.

It seems the dysfunction of our criminal justice system has been around for centuries. Has there ever truly been a just and fair system? This boy was a mere child. I can't even begin to imagine what terror this child felt. So very sad 😞
