A bachelors degree could be completed in 2 years or less if they eliminated all of the unrelated courses.
Just require the major courses and let them graduate.
But that wouldn’t be as profitable or fund enough communists in the system. So they drag it out to 5+ years.
Hot take but I think psychiatrists should order a full hormone panel before diagnosing mental health conditions and putting people on psych meds after one session.
You're in hell. You're staying with one of those families that seemingly never eats. They skip breakfast. Lunch rolls around and everyone says, “I'm not really hungry.” There are no snacks anywhere. Then they don't eat dinner until like 8PM.
This is true — BUT people don’t like hearing the inverse:
if everything feels like an attack, you’re probably NOT WELL
I don’t mean that as an insult; this is very much literal.
I’ve watched people (myself included) interpret everything as hostility when their system was under stress.
Teasing isn’t playful anymore, it is disrespect. A difference in opinion is opposition. Advice (even gentle or well-meaning) feels like intrusion/disrespect.
Even appreciation can feel like it has an edge to it, like something is being taken or implied.
There’s a kind of perceptual narrowing that happens, like hmmm the world loses dimensionality. Every interaction gets flattened into *for me or against me*
And it’s bc a stressed organism doesn’t perceive accurately (intuition is skewed in low-thyroid states). It predicts threat.
That’s why it feels so convincing.
And from that place, the response is almost always the same: DEFEND, CORRECT, REACT, BRACE.
That is a stress response.
Hans Selye described stress as the state of being pushed out of adaptive capacity; and when that happens, even neutral stimuli start to register as harmful.
A system like that doesn’t have the energy for ambiguity, let alone play.
You’re not reacting to what’s happening but actually to what your stressed body has already decided is happening.
And from there, every interaction becomes something to defend against.
The shift, when it happens, is almost embarrassing in hindsight.
The same things that used to feel like attacks don’t even register anymore. And it’s not bc you grew thicker skin or whatever but bc you’re no longer in a state that requires constant defense.
You can be teased, disagreed with, misunderstood etc and it doesn’t destabilise you.
Something something metabolic energy.
Most people are trying to fix this at the level of mindset, when it’s very often just a stressed system misreading reality.
And the opposite is just as important to recognise with compassion:
when someone experiences everything as an attack, it often has very little to do with you —
and everything to do with the state their system is in.
Namaste 🙏🏻
I lost my mom when I was 38 weeks pregnant with my second baby.
I can’t even explain how insane it feels to read mom groups, mom Reddit threads, and mommy Twitter rants right now.
Women complaining about their mothers for
- calling “too much”
- kissing or hugging their toddlers
- wanting to see the kids
- moving closer just to be around them
- buying non-aesthetic toys (seriously?)
It is so unbelievably ungrateful.
What makes it worse is seeing this come from conservative spaces that constantly preach about how motherhood is everything. The same women posting “nothing replaces you as a mom” are turning around and threatening to cut off their own mothers… over Paw Patrol t-shirts???
So what is your mom now, then? Suddenly not a mom anymore? Not allowed to love you, to show up, to be involved, just because you have your own kids now? Now she better not have any attachment to the most fulfilling part of her life?
Is that really how YOU want YOUR children to treat you one day?
Some people will not realize what they have until it’s gone. These delusional women want to throw whole relationships away over things that will not matter at all, looking back.
The level of entitlement and lack of perspective is unreal. And there are too many posts to comment on the all individually, so here’s my generalized response.
Get a grip, moms.
“Is it a little bit homophobic to focus on the straights of Hormuz rather than the gays of Hormuz?”
No Kings protester, completely serious: “Yes, absolutely, I agree.”
The concept of "teenager" is a modern invention.
For most of human history, a boy of 13 was already a man, apprenticed in a trade or fighting in a war.
George Washington was a professional surveyor at 16.
Alexander Hamilton managed a trading company at 14.
In medieval Europe, noble boys could be pages at 7 and squires by 14.
In Rome, a boy put on the "toga of manhood" at 14.
The idea that an 18 year-old is "still figuring things out" would have been incomprehensible to our ancestors.
I believe this is why we think teenagers are so troubled. They are men and women stuck in a society that treats them as children. Of course they are going to "rebel".
We should give them more responsibility and expect much more of them.
Today my grandma told me "If your boyfriend/husband ever says anything rude or disrespectful to you, tell him to write it down on a piece of paper, get in his car, drive, and deliver it to his mother, or simply hand it to his daughter.
If he can't say it to his mother or doesn't want another man to one day say it to his daughter, he shouldn't be saying it to you" .....the best dating advice ever.
I love having crafty children & also omg. The paper scraps, little fiddly bits of everything, yarn tangles, rocks, pine cones & all manner of other treasures.
My mom says, “you can have a spic & span house OR children who don’t watch a lot of TV” … alas, I think she is correct.
If your kids come before your wife, you're doing it wrong.
"But my kids are my world!"
Cool. And when your marriage implodes because you neglected it for 10 years, watch their world crumble too.
I see this constantly: Couples who stopped being PARTNERS and became just "mom and dad."
No date nights. No intimacy. No teamwork. Just two exhausted people managing chaos.
Then they wonder why their kids are anxious, entitled, or acting out.
Kids don't feel secure when they're the center of attention 24/7.
They feel secure when MOM AND DAD are a united front.
Here's what my kids see in our house:
• Dad respects Mom's opinions
• Mom backs up Dad's decisions
• We resolve disagreements privately (not in front of them)
• We have time together that doesn't include them
• Physical affection (they need to see healthy marriage modeled)
This isn't choosing your spouse OVER your kids.
It's choosing marriage SO your kids learn to value marriage.
The parents who make kids the absolute priority? Often end up with:
Entitled kids who think the world revolves around them
No boundaries (because guilt parenting)
A dead bedroom and resentful marriage
Kids who grow up thinking marriage is just "survival mode"
My job isn't to be my kids' best friend.
It's to raise them in a home where they see what real partnership looks like.
Where leadership and teamwork coexist.
Where commitment means something even when it's hard.
Your marriage is the foundation. If it crumbles, everything else does too.
Prioritize your wife. Your kids are watching.
Last time I went to a doctor I asked for him to test my testosterone just out of curiosity. He said “you don’t need that, you are young and healthy, no symptoms”, I told him I didn’t care and just wanted to know for my own reference. I argued with him for almost ten minutes, he kept trying to dissuade me saying it would cost more and they’d need to take more blood, but he finally agreed. When I got my tests back it was missing test, so I called the office and they said they lost the extra vial of blood. Almost every American has a story of doctors being complete pieces of shit and this profession needs a fucking reality check.
As always I only support military action anywhere, in any context, if it directly serves the interests of American citizens. It’s troubling that the arguments we’re hearing for this war in Iran, including from Trump himself, seem to revolve primarily around “bringing freedom to the Iranian people.” As Americans, the freedom of Iranians is not our responsibility. If a single American life is lost in the service of that goal, it will be a travesty.
What nobody has even come close to sufficiently explaining is how this war will first and foremost directly benefit American citizens. That is a case that needed to have been made clearly and convincingly before this move, and it wasn’t. We’re also told how this will benefit Israel, and I’m sure it will. But Israel is not America. What does it do for America? How does it help us? That needs to be explained to us. And it isn’t “panicking” or demonstrating “disloyalty” to demand those very basic answers about how American tax money, and potentially American lives, are being spent.
We hear about the danger of a nuclear Iran, but that’s odd because we were told that Iran’s nuclear capabilities had already been set back decades. We hear that this war will be over quickly and easily because Iran is powerless, which I hope and pray is the case, and maybe it will be. But that’s odd, too, because if Iran is such a paper tiger then how were they a danger to us in the first place? It seems hard to argue both that Iran is an existential threat to the United States and that we can topple them in 20 minutes with no casualties or negative downstream effects.
Also the political calculation really matters here. A huge majority of American oppose this. That’s just a fact. If it costs Republicans in 26 and 28, then, no matter how things work out in Iran, it will not have been worth it. A free Iran at the cost of Democrat rule here at home is a bad deal. A free Iran for an unfree America would be just about the worst trade of the century.
I’m praying for our great country today.
Expanding access to IVF HURTS WOMEN
IVF is expensive, has a terrible success rate, high miscarriage rate, and does NOT solve the root cause that is causing a woman’s infertility in the first place.
I wish we could consider expanding access to NaPro technology instead which exceeds IVF in success, affordability, and finding out and solving WHY a woman isn’t getting pregnant in the first place
