Proud to see @BikersUganda featured in the @TourismBoardUg gazette.
@JulzKagwa, thank you for believing that two wheels can carry a nation's story further than most imagine. 🌍
They say two wheels move the soul. Seven border crossings. Dozens of fuel stops. Conversations with strangers and fellow bikers, some who had never heard of the Pearl of Africa, until they met us. And even those who had heard found their perception quietly rewritten.
Some gestures were loud: the roar of the pipes, the aura we carried. Some were simple: a flier handed over, a flag worn with pride, a smile that needed no translation, a meal and a drink shared.
We were graced by the presence of Uganda's ambassadors to Italy and France.
For now the engines have rested. The memories have not.
This recognition belongs to every rider who turned a hobby into a mission: marketing the Pearl of Africa one road at a time. We look forward to many more opportunities to tell Uganda's story together.
We are a blessed nation and a blessed people. 🙏🇺🇬

A friend once asked, "Why join a motorcycle club when you can ride alone?"
The truth is, the road is better when shared. Uganda Bikers Association is more than motorcycles and weekend rides. It's a brotherhood that celebrates milestones together, stands by each other through challenges, and discovers new horizons one journey at a time.
Some join for the thrill. Most stay for the people.

Whether discussing Uganda's emerging oil sector, investment opportunities, public relations, leadership, or preparing a perfectly cooked alacarte steak, he approaches everything with thoughtfulness and precision.
As part of the Uganda Bikers Association Europe Tour 2026, Tony is helping tell a different story about Uganda - one of opportunity, resilience, innovation, and untapped potential.
From our natural resources and tourism attractions to our entrepreneurial spirit and talented people, Uganda is a country worth discovering, investing in, and calling home.

🗣️ A thread for DefendDefenders’ oral statements at the UN Human Rights Council’s 6⃣1⃣st session 🧵
We start with SUDAN 🇸🇩 — today, during an enhanced interactive dialogue (EID), our Executive Director @Hassan_Shire took the floor to:
🔸 Urge states to act on 3⃣ fronts: civilian protection, constraints on perpetrators, and accountability.
🔹 Stress the distinct value of each mechanism working on Sudan.
🔸 Encourage complementarity & coordination and suggest thematic areas for future UN reports.
❝ The patterns documented, in particular the Fact-Finding Mission’s findings of ‘hallmarks of genocide’ against non-Arab communities, are a stain of the conscience of humankind. ❞

🇺🇳 Happy to meet with H.E. Mr. António Guterres, UN Secretary-General, today on the margins of #HRC61, together with civil society colleagues.
Productive conversations on #UN80, ensuring adequate funding for investigative mechanisms (such as the #FFM for #Sudan), civic space, the protection of #HRDs, and building strong early warning systems — especially through constant interactions between UN country teams & civil society/HRDs at the national level.
@Hassan_Shire@AfricaDefenders
At #HRC61, our delegation continues its engagements around the High-Level Segment.
Today, we were glad to meet with:
🇱🇮 H.E. Ms. Sabine Monauni, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Foreign Affairs of #Liechtenstein
🇮 H.E. Ms. Thorgerdur Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, Minister for Foreign Affairs of #Iceland
🇳🇴 H.E. Mr. Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Foreign Affairs of #Norway
Good discussions on issues of common interest, including human rights crises in the East & Horn of Africa and accountability.

Today we join the rest of the world to commemorate16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence under the global theme, “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,”. The digital realm has increasingly become a new frontline where women human rights defenders (WHRDs) are targeted. Throughout the 16 days we will:
* Increase public awareness of the evolving digital threats and online gender-based violence targeting WHRDs.
* Showcase our Safe Sisters program as an effective model for building digital resilience and supporting WHRDs’ safety and wellbeing.
* Amplify the lived experiences of WHRDs while providing clear, practical digital safety guidance to help prevent and respond to digital gender-based violence (GBV).
* Advocate for stronger institutional and platform-level protections for WHRDs, contributing to the broader #WomenUganda2025+ agenda to end violence against women.
During the launch of the campaign, our Executive Director @Hassan_shire emphasizes that ending digital violence is not only a technological necessity but also a human rights imperative. We therefore urge everyone to stand with every WHRD in the digital space, ensuring that they can speak out safely online.

This afternoon, our Executive Director, @Hassan_shire, acknowledged Rebecca Kabagimu for her outstanding contribution to the #SheDefends campaign, particularly through championing the #Celebratinghercourage. Through her consistent engagement by liking, retweeting, sharing, and standing in solidarity, Rebecca helped amplify the voices of Women Human Rights Defenders and extend the reach of our message.
At DefendDefenders, we believe the work of protecting and promoting the rights of Human Rights Defenders begins from within the organisation. Our staff are not just employees—they are defenders too. We appreciate every team member that embodies these values.
Well in, @RebeccaKabagimu!

We will keep looking out for bikers' safety. We need your support to share these messages
As we begin April, our Director of Programs and Administration, @MemoryBandera , reflects on our recently concluded month-long #SheDefends campaign, where we amplified the voices and work of Women Human Rights Defenders(WHRDs) across various thematic areas. While the campaign has ended, the fight for gender equality continues throughout the year. Now is the time to move beyond words and take deliberate, urgent actions—strengthening protection, dismantling systemic barriers, and creating an environment where WHRDs can operate safely and effectively.
Watch her message below; a call to action.
