With the dreadful Mencap ruling hanging over the heads of care and support staff the fight for the National Minimum Wage expectantly heads to the Supreme Court next year. Support the cause for justice. #awakeonasleepin#ExemptfromNMW#socialcare

#SundayThoughts
Speak out in the care industry and you're likely to loose shifts or be sacked; this is the reality for the hundreds of thousands of care and support staff.

#SundayThoughts Think about the lives of care and support staff the next time you pop in to buy a drink. They are denied the National Minimum Wage and told that they're only worth a cup of coffee for each hour they work. Would you work for £3 an hour? #awakeonasleepin
And will be returning to Supreme Court to try and ensure we remain exempt from being paid minimum wage .What a way for a so called charity to behave #awakeonasleepin
@lindaroslynd@awakeonasleepin I’m saying good bye on a daily basis to care & support workers who are the most skilled professionals in #socialcare Its not through choice as they are dedicated, talented&diligent enabling real life & relationships. They simply cannot afford to live on such poor wages any longer.
#SaturdayMotivation Five years of fighting for the National Minimum Wage has left me with a £37,372.02 costs bill payable to the respondent’s lawyers. To continue the fight to the Supreme Court I need your help - just £1 or £2 pledged share & RT Thank you https://t.co/oZvOcp0nFk
The #NationalMinimumWage Act 1998 has had little sway in the world of the Social Care Sector. Tens of thousands of care and support workers are still not protected by law as the Court of Appeal reversed case law in favour of the employers. This cannot be allowed to stand!
Until care workers pay reflects the level of skill required and acknowledges the anti social element of weekend and late hours required these jobs will be difficult to fill . Some workers aren't even getting minimum wage
#ThursdayThoughts Did you know thousands of care workers across the UK are being paid less then NMW for all hours spent at work & work in an industry where WTR & policies are routinely broken & are expected to just put up with it. NOT ANYMORE! #awakeonasleepin#socialcarespin
