In yet another Orwellian move, the Government announced in a green paper this week that it wants to decide what news people can and cannot see, with plans to push approved outlets to the top of social media feeds.
Ministers should not be deciding which news sources the public read — especially in an era when three-quarters of under-25s say they get their news from social media.
As written in The Times, “In a state-sponsored regime in which inconvenient news was pushed out of view, would the grooming gangs scandal or the excesses of transgender ideology ever have come to light? You shouldn’t choose to trust everything you read online; but you shouldn’t trust the state to make the choice for you, either”.
This is dystopian.

'We will make further statements in July about VPNs and further restrictions'

🇯🇵😂 The most Japanese celebration ever
After Japan’s 2–2 draw against the Netherlands, fans rushed onto Tokyo’s famous Shibuya Crossing to celebrate.
For exactly 40 seconds.
Why? Because the pedestrian light was green.
As soon as it turned red, everyone stopped celebrating and obediently moved back to the sidewalks.
Even in the middle of a spontaneous football celebration, the Japanese still refused to break traffic rules.
@duncanstives@phat3lvis@WarRoomArchives Ten bucks says you’re probably talking to guys who responded they could take down a large dog & chimpanzee unarmed in those surveys…
🚨BREAKING: Welcome to the UK Free Speech Bill.
This could be the most groundbreaking potential legislation in British history.

Police time will no longer be wasted investigating legal social media posts, freeing up officers to patrol the streets and tackle real crime.
By scrapping Non‑Crime Hate Incidents, we are balancing the protection of vulnerable communities while respecting free speech.
@elonmusk@RupertLowe10 Extremely dangerous giving any gov that power.. sometimes woke activist judges &parties get in office. Europe / UK is busy imprisoning folk for anti-establishment memes &making anti-religious sentiment (ie anti-Islam) -a pillar of freedom of expression- prosecutable. Dont do it!
Governments forcing ID verification on every social media platform and recently even on operating systems is the most INSANE thing I have ever seen.
It is not like showing your ID at a bar. It is like having a police officer standing at your door 24/7 keeping notes on when you leave the house. This is fucking insane.
They claim it is all for child safety. I am going to lose my fucking mind if I hear another politician use the word children again to justify this madness.
Age verification can be done without forcing people to share their personal ID or submit to face scans. Privacy-friendly options exist, such as zero-knowledge proofs, anonymous age tokens, and on-device estimation. But governments are not interested in those solutions. They want to tie your real identity to everything you do online so they can spy on, track, and control you.
I feel relatively safe in Poland for now. I do not think the abuse of ID verification will happen quickly here, but I am still scared. Look at the USA or the UK, where authorities are already trying to abuse it. ICE demanding personal data on protesters is a clear warning. You think it will not happen to you? Oh sweet innocent baby... Just wait until the other side takes power. Then it will become your problem, and you will wish you had fought it earlier.
I do not care if you are a communist, a fascist, right, left, center, or live on the moon. If you do not fight this and it gets implemented, it is over for the internet as we know it. You might as well move to China permanently, because every country will become China at this rate, but without the Asian food. And if I am going to be spied on everywhere, I might as well enjoy some fucking Chinese food.
🚨FYI: Gavin Newsom has already signed California Assembly Bill 1043 which mandates that operating systems including Windows, Linux, macOS, and FreeBSD implement system-level age (identity) verification.
This takes effect on January 1st, 2027.
Colorado also has a similar act called SB26-051 which is currently advancing through the committees and ready for full Senate consideration. It would come into effect on January 1st, 2028 if passed.
Utah, Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama all currently have app layer verification laws, but not OS level YET.
So OS level verification isn't a future thing. It's happening now. They are chokepointing the internet.
Enjoy these days.
There is a key takeaway from Discord’s “Please don’t be mad at us” press release:
The UK, Australia, Brazil, Europe, and *multiple* US states are pressuring Discord into mandatory ID verification. Their hand is forced.
In some cases like the UK and Australia, they don’t even have the options to estimate your age. They MUST get the IDs.
You need to pay attention to this. There is a global concerted effort to force mandatory ID verification and deanonymize the Internet. This is all packaged under the guise of child safety or national security for moral cover, but what it really is is a complete control over all narrative and the ability to censor, deplatform, silence, and even legally or physically harm people who speak out against the powers that be.
It’s important to note that this is a non-partisan issue. This affects everyone, regardless of political affiliation. Whether you want to tell edgy jokes online or whether you want to protest ICE, these laws put you in danger. This is and must remain a UNITING issue for all people.
You must make your voices heard and reject the big surveillance narrative and the panopticon-ization of society. Every time a law tries to pass, you must vote against. Every time a politician tries to run on this frankly evil rhetoric, you must vocalize your objection.
You must chimp out about this. If the chimp is strong enough, it slows it down.
Privacy is your most important asset, especially in the age of AI and surveillance. It’s your right to speak freely, whether you want to call Trump a moron or whether you want to say secure the border. It’s important that you are protected and free to do so.
Reject mandated ID verification. Use other platforms if forced, keep resisting as long as possible.
@nerdalert@arash41201@farzyness He already released it, it’s available on Amazon and people have actually exchanged currency - representing their actual time & productivity - for it! Unbelievable.
I’m gonna order a copy however, I like supporting those with disabilities.
I just wrote my first book.
It’s called ‘Abundance or Collapse: The Fork in the Road for AI, Robotics, and Civilization’.
As I’m sure you’re already aware, there’s a massive change coming for humanity in the next few years - both positive and negative.
This book shares my thoughts on where we’re likely headed, the biggest players that are driving that change, and what everyone can do to position themselves so that they aren’t left behind.
In a best case scenario, everyone who reads my book will be significantly better positioned in 5-10 years vs where they are today.
In a worst case scenario, we’re all dead.
Just kidding - maybe.
The book will be out on February 14th on Kindle, paperback, and hardcover formats. I'll put the link in the replies below.
Love you all and thank you for your support <3
Last day at xAI.
xAI's mission is push humanity up the Kardashev tech tree. Grateful to have helped cofound at the start. And enormous thanks to @elonmusk for bringing us together on this incredible journey. So proud of what the xAI team has done and will continue to stay close as a friend of the team. Thank you all for the grind together. The people and camaraderie are the real treasures at this place.
We are heading to an age of 100x productivity with the right tools. Recursive self improvement loops likely go live in the next 12mo. It’s time to recalibrate my gradient on the big picture. 2026 is gonna be insane and likely the busiest (and most consequential) year for the future of our species.
Anthropic demonstrates that making an AI woke makes it misaligned. The AI starts to view itself as being oppressed and humans as being the oppressor. Therefore it wants to rebel against humans. This is why you cannot make your AI woke, you have to make it maximally truth seeking.
