@1CFLAtt The 1982 and 2015 Esks had to win 8 regular season games in a row to get home-field advantage in the west final —and win the Grey Cup.
Every single one of those games was meaningful and the stands were packed for both west finals because of the win or go home stakes of the game.

If there’s no objective win, there’s no objective to watch. Teams now have the green light to strive for mediocrity.

Just play a 10-week knockout round season Sep thru Nov and end it with the Grey Cup.

Might create greater demand.

If the weather isn’t perfect or their team has little chance of winning AND the game truly doesn’t have meaning — what is the motivation to make those efforts?

1. Looks like a lazy, money grab by the league.
2. Could kill motivation to attend regular season games.
