A piece of my heart will always be in Jasper, steadily making the rounds to places like Scoops and Loops, Jasper Pizza, and The Pub on staff grounds of JPL.
Thinking of all the townies, gorbies, and seasonal workers.❤️🩹

@1CFLAtt The 1982 and 2015 Esks had to win 8 regular season games in a row to get home-field advantage in the west final —and win the Grey Cup.
Every single one of those games was meaningful and the stands were packed for both west finals because of the win or go home stakes of the game.
@gjmezei@MiltStegallTSN@CFL It’ll be interesting to see how the decreased relevance of the regular season affects the quality of the game product and game attendance.
If there’s no objective win, there’s no objective to watch. Teams now have the green light to strive for mediocrity.
@MiltStegallTSN@CFL Can’t imagine being motivated to play a gruelling 18-games in front of fewer fans, only to head into this new playoff gauntlet even just a little banged up.
Just play a 10-week knockout round season Sep thru Nov and end it with the Grey Cup.
Might create greater demand.
@DeltaCoHoldings@bradyoliveira@Spothe If the commissioner had ordered professionally facilitated focus group be conducted in each CFL city, there might’ve been some qualified data that (after analysis) supported these changes.
@1CFLAtt Many fans of teams don’t live in the city where the game is played and make concerted efforts to drive to games.
If the weather isn’t perfect or their team has little chance of winning AND the game truly doesn’t have meaning — what is the motivation to make those efforts?
@TSN_Sports 8 of 9 teams in the playoffs makes regular season games meaningless for fans (existing + potential) and players.
Is there data to support this decision? The social media response indicates there isn’t.
Oh well, the universe will unfold as it should.
@CFL 8 of 9 teams in the playoffs:
1. Looks like a lazy, money grab by the league.
2. Could kill motivation to attend regular season games.
3. Not great for players. With small rosters, teams can barely stay healthy through the season - how do they get through that playoff gauntlet?
