This is my video of the explosion of the Blue Origin New Glenn rocket at Cape Canaveral’s pad LC-36 a short time ago. Includes video & audio from roughly 5 miles away near Jetty Park. That was an absolutely enormous explosion! 🤯
Note: Thankfully, Blue says all staff are OK.
All personnel are accounted for and safe. It’s too early to know the root cause but we’re already working to find it. Very rough day, but we’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It’s worth it.
Blue Origin is scheduled to launch the third New Glenn mission, carrying communications satellites for AST SpaceMobile.
They will also attempt to land its first stage booster, "Never Tell Me the Odds," on the recovery barge Jacklyn in the Atlantic Ocean. This booster previously supported NASA’s ESCAPADE mission and will be the first reflight of a New Glenn booster.
The launch is scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, April 19, with a two-hour window opening at 6:45 a.m. ET (just minutes before sunrise!). I highly recommend going out to watch if you're local – it should be a beautiful sight.

And splashdown!
America is back in the business of sending astronauts to the Moon and bringing them home safely.
Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy did an outstanding job. These talented astronauts inspired the world and represented their space agencies and nations as humanity’s ambassadors to the stars.
This was a test mission, the first crewed flight of SLS and Orion, pushing farther into the unforgiving environment of space than ever before, and it carried real risk. They accepted that risk for all we stood to learn and for the exciting missions that follow, as we return to the lunar surface, build a Moon base, and prepare for what comes next.
And they were not alone. The entire NASA workforce, our commercial and international partners, and the hopes and dreams of people all over the world were with them. The astronauts know it, and you should too. This mission would not have been possible without you.
Congratulations. Artemis II, mission accomplished.
Highly recommend this for anyone who isn’t media yet but wants to get their foot in the door. Opportunities like this are how I got started before becoming media. Apply!
The BBC reports Brevard School Board has voted to shutter Cape Canaveral, FL’s beloved Cape View Elementary.
Home to the Cape View Rockets, “Rocket Launch Elementary” is the closest school to rocket launches in US, where Apollo astronaut’s kids attended.

Last night was amazing. So many space people gathered for Yuri's Night while four people were flying toward the MOON. You could feel the energy.
Great speakers, music, stargazing, spacecraft, and space friends.
Then add hanging out to almost 2 a.m. at Space Bar to watch an Atlas V take off. 🚀
So glad to see so many space friends and finally meet many of you in person. The space community is the best. ❤️
Last night, we celebrated Yuri’s Night under the stars.
The same stars humanity has looked up at for all of history…
In the top right of the image is Orion’s Belt… three stars that have guided explorers for generations. And now, as we stood there, the Orion spacecraft was carrying humans back to the Moon.
For a moment, it all connects—past, present, and future.
We are no longer just observers of the cosmos.
We are participants.
Only at Yuri’s Night does your photo with old friends get photobombed by the legendary @AJamesMcCarthy 😂🤣. Was an honor to finally meet you sir! And great catching up @_MaxQ_ and @rbalephoto!
