It has been announced that Nick Varney will retire from his position as CEO of Merlin Entertainments over the next 12 months. To ensure a smooth transition, the company will look to appoint his successor within that time period, with internal and external talent to be considered.

Nick Varney was of course Marketing Director at @altontowers in the early 1990s, and has been attributed to playing a role in developing the creative concept of Nemesis, as well as selecting the ride's name.
