@Salomone_Math "A million wrong ways" <-- totally!
I've been teaching math at a virtual charter since 2017 and teaching online math is largely unexamined. Nothing like research on non-permanent vertical surfaces or randomization of groups. It could really use some attention.
@newmanmath Can you text/email your students? If so, I have gotten a lot of mileage out of gif recorders (I like Gifox). You can screencapture as you demonstrate on screen with your pen input device, then send to a student via email or text. No video hosting.
@newmanmath@MrEarl4564@iteachmathAll I teach math online at a virtual charter and totally relate to your experiences. I remember trying to get YouTube Live working with my Macbook Air. Definitely not happening. :)
update: I decided to prioritize wrapping my head around PBL this year, so I'm planning to attend the PBL 101 workshop at PBL World 2019 in Napa. Thanks for all your suggestions/ideas/encouragement!
HS math teacher here. Need ideas for spending professional development money. Last year, went to NCTM in Washington, DC. I'm kind of conferenced out, so what else? (certifcations, classes, etc.) #iteachmath#mtbos
@AmyRoediger@TmathC@NBPTS Is TMathC a lottery? I had heard that in the past. I'm interested in attending, but I have to plan out how I'll use funds sooner than later, and if there is a chance I couldn't go (i.e. didn't get selected) I might lose the funds (travel, etc.) I otherwise had earmarked.
@dandersod@shskaercher I have a bunch of 3D printer parts someone gave me from a failed Kickstarter project. Maybe I just need to convert it into a pen plotter.
@GrandMasterMath @delta_dc I especially like the "How to Bake Pi", as I've recently gotten in to cooking. Excerpt from Amazon: "We learn how the bรฉchamel in a lasagna can be a lot like the number five"๐ง๐
@iisanumber Great responses! I have a co-worker that did the Google-certified thing. Maybe I'll take another look at that. I'd never heard of MoMath. Thanks for the tip!
@LearningMaths@delta_dc Not the norm. I'm at a charter school and it is just something our school has prioritized. Most public schools conduct PD through their district.
