“I felt like I knew Pakistan, but you don't know Pakistan until you truly experience it. And it has been delightful. It has the best, highest quality, most superb-tasting food I have ever experienced at a media event in my entire career.”
Senior #WhiteHouse Correspondent for @AJEnglish@KimberlyHalkett on her 1st ever visit to #Pakistan
#IslamabadTalks
Bilawal conducted nearly a dozen interviews with leading media platforms including Sky, Al Jazeera, BBC etc on the #IslamabadTalks which are about ending the U.S./Israeli war of aggression against Iran. Pakistan itself is a mediator ostensibly backed by China whose point person with Pakistan is President Zardari.
Of course this is unacceptable to PTI/JI/MQM & even some PMLN supporters like Razi Dada. Where preventing WW3 is not as important as the delusional and psychotic ramblings of Imran Khan, Altaf Hussain and JI thugs.
One point that you missed, every reporter is on payroll of a certain politician or pubic figure and represents them accordingly.
No un biased or expert reporting whatsoever.
There has been a lot of hue and cry as to why the government did not provide enough information to local journalists on the Iran-US talks.
Well, it’s not the government’s job to help journalists. The govt was doing what it was supposed to do.
For local journalists not being able to report as desired by many, it has to do with their own capacity or lack of it.
In Pakistan, there is no concept of specialised reporting. Today, you are giving weather updates, tomorrow, you are assigned to cover the FO briefing and the next morning the Parliament session.
To report on Iran-US talks, one needs a far broader understanding of geopolitics, the intricacies within, and several other factors.
And this requires a lot of study, homework and expirence.
Why do our local journalists struggle to report Islamabad talks when little or no information is available Because they were looking at the event only through Pakistan’s lens.
Met several foreign journalists during the talks, and you know what? Most of them were Iran or Middle East experts with extensive experience in reporting.
So those media outlets don’t just deploy their primetime anchors or irrelevant people to cover every event.
Lastly, in any profession, the key is to set your own goals, work on your skills and enhance your capacity.
If journalists are relying on the government to help with their assignments, then perhaps they should consider leaving this job.
There’s absolutely no reason why anyone should blame #Pakistan for the lack of an agreement. It was up to the two protagonists—the US and Iran—to deliver an agreement, not up to the moderator!
.@VP in Islamabad, Pakistan: "We’ve had a number of substantive discussions with the Iranians. That’s the good news. The bad news is that we have not reached an agreement — and I think that’s bad news for Iran much more than it's bad news for the United States of America."
Vice President JD Vance gives an update in Pakistan:
"The simple fact is that we need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon."
Talks failed but history will remember the lengths Pakistan went to, to get it settled peacefully. We have punched miles above our weight & gave the world a glimmer of hope against all odds. We were the only avenue that gave hope to millions & millions of mothers & children who dreaded destruction. Proud of our diplomats. We know it’s a good news for a specific faction of anarchists in Pakistan but then again, until they get hold of affairs, let’s cherish what we did in the last two weeks for peace. Congratulations, Pakistan. And good luck to the world !!
This has to be the dumbest article ever
When you cover important events as a reporter you can’t demand news be given to you - and that too on a plate
Clearly, the person who write this has never been an actual reporter and/or done field reporting
And when I checked the byline I was write - he was an editor at Dawn dot com and before that at The News
Scathing piece: Journalists flown in from around the world to cover US-Iran talks in Islamabad were left sipping coffee in a lavish media centre, with no briefings, no access and little idea what was happening outside. One journalist said, “bored out of my mind.”

Hundreds of journalists rushed to Islamabad from around the world -- but as the Iran talks began behind closed doors half a kilometre away, all they could do was wait -- and sip on an expertly brewed coffee while listening to live eastern folk music.

Did these people think they’d get table-side seats to discussions to end a war? I flew 21 hours to be here & knew exactly what I was getting into — there’s no news until there’s news; that’s how these things work. This is unfair to Pakistan, which has been a gracious host.
Pakistani Journalist: "You have been to India last year and today you are visiting Islamabad. Which country did you like more?"
JD Vance : "Honestly, You can't compare India and Pakistan. India has a 4 Trillion Economy whereas Pakistan is not even 500 Billion dollars. We have a significant relationship with India be it in Defence, IT, Security and various other sectors whereas I am here just to complete the negotiations and fly back"
