This one is deeply personal for me.
It has been both a privilege and a passion to spend the past several years building Pretty Good Policy from a series of conversations and gatherings into something that could have a real and lasting impact on crypto policy. Over the past year, that work has increasingly centered on Zcash.
ZODL has made this possible. None of this would have happened without Josh Swihart’s @jswihart leadership and his understanding that policymakers need to know why we are building this technology: to preserve freedom, financial privacy, individual autonomy, open innovation, and the ability to build and use lawful privacy-preserving technology without treating privacy itself as something inherently suspect.
Today, @zodl_co is announcing the next step: Pretty Good Policy for Zcash, or PGPZ @pgpzcash, is an independent 501(c)(4) dedicated to representing the Zcash ecosystem in public policy.
The timing is crucial. The CLARITY Act remains under consideration in Congress as lawmakers continue working through the details of a broader framework for digital-asset market structure. This week, crypto leaders were at the White House discussing the future of digital-asset policy. Yesterday, the CFTC convened the inaugural meeting of its Innovation Advisory Committee. This is exactly the kind of policy environment where Zcash, financial privacy, noncustodial technology, and the people building them need informed and credible representation.
My ambition is for PGPZ to earn a place alongside project-focused organizations like @SolanaInstitute, @HyperliquidPC and @bitcoinpolicy; to work closely with industry organizations such as @BlockchainAssn and @crypto_council; and to collaborate with groups like @coincenter, @fund_defi and @TheDRC_.
The goal isn’t to duplicate what they’re doing. It’s to make sure Zcash has an organization focused on representing its perspective and priorities in policy discussions, while working alongside the broader crypto policy community.
So I am asking the Zcash community for your help. If you agree that Zcash needs a serious, independent voice in the policy discussions shaping the future of crypto and financial privacy, please make your support known.

There is an extraordinary amount happening in Washington right now. I want to make sure Zcash has a seat at the table. 🛡️
