@no63774069@MarkTheEllipsis@tsunchuuni@vtubed9@VValtzy_ I would hesitate to say that even the analysis being scoffed at is very academic, though. All of this is still entry-level. I honestly don’t think you really need that much education to coherently argue either side here, which is why it gets so much traction.
@no63774069@MarkTheEllipsis@tsunchuuni@vtubed9@VValtzy_ Yeah, it’s rare to find something that’s really interesting, but the peanut gallery is still pretty fun in my opinion. And every once in a while you do see some intelligent new points that make you think.
@no63774069@MarkTheEllipsis@tsunchuuni@vtubed9@VValtzy_ Also, I appreciate that, while you initially appeared more aggressive to me, you do seem more willing to have a reasonable discussion than the other person. Like I said, I don’t mind aggression (it comes with the territory) so long as there is something interesting being said.
@no63774069@MarkTheEllipsis@tsunchuuni@vtubed9@VValtzy_ So it’s really more about what you’re getting out of it. But at the end of the day, I suppose if you’re arguing more for pure entertainment, which is the sense I’m getting now, then that’s fair enough.
@no63774069@MarkTheEllipsis@tsunchuuni@vtubed9@VValtzy_ You can always make an argument in good faith, even if your opponent isn’t. It benefits you too, like I said. And if the other person is truly that mistaken, they would greatly benefit from legitimate argument. Also, I have to point out again, that isn’t what they said.
@MarkTheEllipsis@no63774069@tsunchuuni@vtubed9@VValtzy_ No, I do respect an argument in good faith. Is there a reason you think otherwise? And in any event, arguing in bad faith hurts you more than your own opponent. It makes your argument look weaker and prevents you from further honing your own position and intellect.
@Louanaa__@puritysequencer@bdgreer@VValtzy_ Can you name a single thing in all of existence that is not political following this logic? Otherwise “political” is simply synonymous with “existent” and therefore has no value as a separate word.
@Louanaa__@clusterofme@bdgreer@VValtzy_ That’s obviously incorrect, because if you’re discounting intentions entirely, a sincerely apolitical individual could just as easily hasten the collapse of an existing regime rather than perpetuate its survival.
@MarkTheEllipsis@Xavierthe9@tsunchuuni@vtubed9@VValtzy_ I’d say defining words entirely by their farthest penumbras is a fruitless endeavor. The edge cases may be interesting to debate occasionally, but at the end of the day his definition is perfectly serviceable and helpfully distinguishes the word from other adjectives.
@LarpMonster_@NotSelectoTrust He can’t use it to solve every problem, but there are obviously instances in the story where its use is completely necessary if he’s going to save the others. There’s a world of difference between that and something like the Greed IF.
@Luciphim_@ABA774374481544 The specific claim by historical Gnostics that God in the Old Testament is a false god is heretical, but the general concept of false gods or created beings claiming to be gods that are unworthy of worship and should be opposed is not.
@sunshineking95@IncomingFailure@TigoODonnell I would expect that someone who takes the time and effort to seek out and download a mod that allows them more time to finish a game would be relatively more likely to finish the game, or at least do most of it. They’re clearly invested already.
@ABA774374481544@tern_inca@profchise It’s very funny. You’d think the fact that these bosses are created beings that can be fully defeated and killed would clue people in on the fact that they aren’t fighting God in the Christian sense. It’s more like killing a pagan god or a demon than anything else.
@Capn_Pipsqueak@GPrime85@J0hnADouglas That’s not how Gnosticism works. If anything it’s more similar to the Church Militant fighting against the Devil as the god of this world.
@ThaBeefGames@Sedji_CIA_psyop@Tony98040419 Reading item descriptions is just as much part of playing a game as listening to dialogue is. It’s actually been a part of gaming for longer.
