@B26037Boora@Math_files Mechanical calculators were base 10, a few base 3 (ternary) electronic computers existed.
Binary is the best because it's easiest to make electronics work with.
@EikeFreidank@mudscryer Huh, okay, it does postulate matter specifically in its definition. Not sure what this weaker claim of a non-mental external reality would be called then.
@EikeFreidank@mudscryer Something like there being an external reality that follows simple rules and keeps going even when not perceived. The only counterintuitive thing is *everything* emerging from simple rules.
Makes no difference under solipsism though. Good luck disproving that.
@boldlygrow@AaronBergman18@nosilverv What's utilitarian about factory farming? My impression is that uilitarians are the ones who compare it to the Holocaust. It's more just market incentives.
@glow_guru@oopsallsolace@Kayhotic_Games@galiumodoratum They were admiring the parallax mapping and how it's a good alternative to geometry details. Nanite doesn't have expensive shaders because it doesn't do the parallax mapping. It's roughly a tradeoff between polycount and shader complexity.
@oopsallsolace@Kayhotic_Games@galiumodoratum Yeah, Nanite only really works well for precomputed static stuff, which walls generally are.
Textures have virtual texturing but idk how well that responds to excessive resolutions thrown in.
@blacknredtext Funny thing is, it's not even very "fantasy". Luna is an actual name for the Moon, the Sun is called Sol, both usually used to disambiguate from natural satellites and stars in general. Terra is rarer but also a thing.
@nickcammarata Wonder how important the ego is for rememberable feelings. My rookie experiences with reduced-self states are much harder to remember compared to something like a fantasy or childhood memory.
@MWCvitkovic Huh, that's new to me. Different borders sure but why would they have to do a squishy deformation kind of change? What needs deforming? Is it by a very small amount that adds up with distance?
