@LongawaReilly I love that you mentioned getting to know your students and their identities because that is so critical when knowing what kind of support and guidance your student needs! It also helps with building a relationship!
A4: I will make sure to have daily check-ins, have materials that are windows and mirrors into my students' lives, and help my students learn about and celebrate differences (And much more)! #TCHEdBirds#TCH258F20
@MsPalicka @dr_s_bertrand This is so important especially when wanting whole class engagement and participation! We should create comfortable environments!
@tmwill8 I have never heard of this book but I like the idea of using different books centered around these topics and later having a discussion about them!
A3: I will incorporate these topics in my classroom by using read alouds and creating different “libraries” for these topics for my students to explore, I’m excited to hear of more ways! #TCHEdBirds#TCH258F20
A2: Us teachers can incorporate literacy in SS by using read alouds and creating our own books! I loved doing this in our class and I know our students would love to as well! Some texts we can use are: Grace for President or We The Kids #TCHEdBirds#TCH258F20
@EtnierShyann @dr_s_bertrand I love this book! I think it would be great to incorporate in the classroom! It helps create an environment where we can celebrate our differences!
@samanth30416029 Yes, I love the idea of using books that actually highlight history’s truths, just like the ones we created!! I think students would enjoy that activity too!
@TibblesHayley @dr_s_bertrand Hi Hayley! I have never heard of this book but I would love to explore it and possibly incorporate it in my future classroom! I like the idea of it being through the perspective of a child, what age group is this good for?
