love can’t be defined by our own ideas or experiences, the only true basis of love is Jesus himself. his sacrifice, devotion, his desperate desire to be near to us. all other portrayals of love miss the mark and leave us disappointed. love is so much grander than we often think
the intimacy of becoming familiar with small details: the way eyes light up in response to certain words or actions. memorising coffee orders. recognising the loops of handwriting. hearing a change in tone when discussing a specific topic. knowing if it’s a genuine laugh/smile
i cannot stress enough, the importance of developing your own relationship with things. develop your own relationship with sleep, food, life, your career, hobbies, fitness, God, nature, meditation, love, prayer, clothes. other people doing it a certain way does not make it law.
Sat next to an older woman on my flight that spent the whole time telling me about her grandkids and how proud of them she was. She said “I’m not proud of them because they’re successful, I’m proud of them because they’re good people” 🥹
I don’t know who needs to hear this but rest is not a reward. You don’t have to earn rest. You need rest. You deserve rest. You are worthy of rest simply because you are a living being. And don’t ever feel guilty for taking time to rest.
Life seems so surreal sometimes. Time passes so quickly and we meet so many different people throughout it. We wake up and live a new day every day. It’s beautiful
