Holy shit, you really can't read, no wonder you didn't bother đ
One last time, for real though, I won't entertain you again.
EA was still highly profitable BEFORE the acquisition, even with BioWare literally burning their money for 10+ years.
BioWare Is not the cause of that debt specifically, the acquisition is.
No studio in existence that makes single player RPGs would have survived that scenario, EVEN if their games were good (which they aren't, in modern BioWare's case).
If you still don't understand this, I'm sorry, but I'm done here.
To all the people commenting how "Veilguard killed BioWare because of politics etc" - you are off the mark. The one thing Veilguard killed for sure (without a reboot) was the Dragon Age franchise, but Veilguard wasn't the last nail in the coffin for BioWare, it was the 2nd to last and far from the first.
What DEFINITELY killed BioWare was the Saudi's acquisition of EA, the debt pressure being too much, BioWare would have been shut down at that point even if they released the new Mass Effect and if it was successful.
BioWare has always had what you'd call in "modern" terms "woke slop" in their games, the difference being that nobody complained before, and I will say rightly so. Because the writing quality was also MUCH superior than whatever we've got in Veilguard (and Andromeda, let me jolt you tired faces).
Veilguard is a bad game for a myriad of reasons BEFORE you even get to the politics, but you wouldn't know this unless you played it, and I can't blame anyone for not playing it. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy or like it, I would never go out of my way to tell someone what they can enjoy or not, I will just quietly mind my own business while judging your taste đ¤Ł
Everyone trying to #SaveMassEffect, while I'm still mourning over Dragon Age.
Where was the #SaveDragonAge, where is it.
If BioWare REALLY (I'll believe it when I see it) was cooking a banger of a new ME like everyone alleges, then they could have rebooted Dragon Age too...
I'm coping, I know, Veilguard caused irreparable harm...
@Nipster15 How many successful single player microtansactions free RPGs do you know that would be profitable enough to allow EA not to axe the studio after incurring in a 20 billion dollars debt?
Cause I know of absolutely none.
Back to my original reply about reading comprehension.
I'll try one last time:
I'm not blaming the Saudi, I'm blaming the debt pressure, which is a consequence of the Saudi's acquisition.
It's a reasonable and logical thing to say, that a sudden 20 billion dollars debt would force EA to cut on losses.
I'm not saying the Saudi told them to shut down BioWare, if it wasn't clear, one more time.
@PooManBad "BioWare has always had what you'd call in "modern" terms "woke slop" in their games".
There is a reason I put those under quotation marks.
But I do regret writing that part, people keep missing out the point of the post and only focus on that.
I'm tired.
@Enkazyel I'm not even here to argue that, I'm only here to say that the 20 billion debt EA incurred is what I believe the real final nail in the coffin for BioWare.
That's all really.
@Arc__75 It's alright, but now you got me thinking if what I wrote in the new clarification thread will be enough, since I put "woke" in quotation marks again đŽâđ¨
And people tell me I'm the one coping.
This isn't an operational debt, it's a sudden debt incurred due to the acquisition.
An acquisition which EA didn't "need" to go through with, they were profitable before the buyout even with BioWare literally burning money for 10+ years.
They saw an opportunity to go from public to private and they took it, cutting down on losses after.
Why would they let them continue to work on ME all this time and only shut down the studio after the buyout finalized?

@Arc__75 And I don't disagree, but that is not my definition, which is why I put things in quotation marks.
You'd think everyone everyone of sane minds thinks it like you, but I guarantee you (and I could start screenshotting comments) that is not the case.
