In 1985, on an Alaskan brown bear hunt, Barnes Bullets owner Randy Brooks fired a .375 H&H lead-core bullet that mushroomed and failed to penetrate. Right then, he envisioned an all-copper bullet—one that would hold together, drive deep, and smash through heavy hide and bone.

On the flight home, he sketched the design that became the legendary X Bullet, launched in 1989.

It delivered what lead never could: reliable expansion, high weight retention, and straight, lethal penetration. #ammo #HUNTING

Trump Administration to Defend Protections for Alaska’s Famed Bristol Bay ⬇️

A Canadian mining company has failed to settle a court case with the U.S. Department of Justice over Clean Water Act protections for Alaska’s Bristol Bay—the site of the world’s most productive salmon run. Northern Dynasty Minerals, the company behind the controversial Pebble Mine, hoped to revive the project by challenging EPA protections, but now faces continued litigation in federal court.

The Trump Administration blocked the mine in 2020 when the Army Corps of Engineers denied a key permit, calling it “contrary to the public interest.” The Biden Administration went further, using the Clean Water Act to veto the project entirely in 2023.

Despite uncertainty about the Trump-led EPA’s stance on the issue, today’s news is seen as a win for conservation. “With the DOJ and Bristol Bay communities aligned, this case moves forward with strong opposition to the mine,” said Salmon State.
