We’ve been covering settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank for years.
But yesterday, we found ourselves on the menu.
A group of masked settlers beat our team and pummelled the 51 year old woman we were interviewing unconscious.
We’re all ok now - and Aida is out of the hospital - but this is just one incident among an unprecedented surge in settler violence across the West Bank.
Here’s out story on yesterday’s attack on Sunday Today on @NBCNews.

How Did I Get Here? I’ve been asking myself that question since I started my career. I’m so excited to finally say the new album is out! I feel so incredibly grateful for your years of die hard support.
I’ve always found it impossible to answer the question of how I ended up here but one thing is for certain I wouldn’t be here without you all.
This record is for you. It’s yours now, enjoy!

I'm devastated to learn of the passing of Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, a member of the West Virginia National Guard. She was only twenty years old.
As families across the nation come together today to celebrate Thanksgiving, let us take a moment to think of those in West Virginia who have been plunged into unimaginable grief.
Seeing the absurd electricity usage by AI after growing up in the 90s surrounded by campaigns telling us not to leave the lights on when we leave the room, to save power and help the environment…like…I cannot begin to explain how much this breaks my brain.
This morning, an attack carried out by Israeli forces killed Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) staff member, Omar Hayek, and seriously injured four others. The attack took place on a street where our teams were waiting to take a bus to the MSF field hospital in Deir al Balah, Gaza.
All staff were wearing MSF vests, clearly identifying them as medical humanitarian workers.
We express deep sorrow and outrage over the killing, which occurs less than two weeks after another MSF colleague, Hussein Alnajjar, was killed by the Israeli forces, in Deir Al Balah.
Our thoughts are with Omar’s family and colleagues at this tragic time. Omar, 42 years old, is the fourteenth MSF colleague to be killed in Gaza since 7 October 2023.

It took just five days of public pressure to bring Jimmy Kimmel back to his show after a suspension. Five days, and he was back on air.
But for 716 days, no amount of pressure has stopped the slaughter of Palestinian journalists, some of them killed on air.
Yes, Jimmy Kimmel was taken off air for five days. Palestinian journalists are taken off the earth, on air, by American-supplied weapons.
‼️The Voice of Hind Rajab wins Silver Lion in Venice — as Hind’s mother, surrounded by Israeli tanks in Gaza City, issues a “last cry for help”
Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania’s docudrama on 5-year-old Hind Rajab — killed alongside her family after hours trapped in a car under Israeli fire — won the Grand Jury Prize (Silver Lion), the festival’s second-highest honor, after premiering to a 24-minute standing ovation.
Meanwhile, Hind’s mother, Wissam Hamada, has issued an urgent plea from Gaza City, where Israeli tanks surround her neighborhood as the military moves to ethnically cleanse the city of its 1 million residents. Living there with her surviving 5-year-old son, she describes the siege as “a living hell” and says: “This could be my last cry for help. I am begging every influential person, every celebrity, every connection to save me… Tanks have surrounded our neighborhood. We must leave, but we have nowhere to go… I want to live. I want to protect my family. Please save us.”
Hamada has also appealed for financial support to survive. Her desperate plea and the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza City have gone unmentioned in the glowing international coverage of the film’s success.

“When I entered Gaza the Israeli military had a rule: I was only allowed to bring in three kilos of food. As I was weighing out protein bars, trying to get under the limit, I said to my husband: ‘How sinister is this?’ I’m a humanitarian aid worker. Why would there even be a limit on food? I’ve worked in many places with extreme hunger, but what’s so jarring in this context is how cruel it is, how deliberate. I was in Gaza for two months; there’s no way to describe the horror of what’s happening. And I say this as a pediatric ICU doctor who sees children die as part of my work. Among our own staff we have doctors and nurses who are trying to treat patients while hungry, exhausted. They’re living in tents. Some of them have lost fifteen, twenty members of their families. In the hospital there are kids maimed by airstrikes: missing arms, missing legs, third degree burns. Often there’s not enough pain medication. But the children are not screaming about the pain, they’re screaming: ‘I’m hungry! I’m hungry!” I hate to only focus on the kids, because nobody should be starving. But the kids, it just haunts you in a different way. When my two months were finished, I didn’t want to leave. It’s a feeling I haven’t experienced in nearly twenty years of humanitarian assignments. But I felt ashamed. Ashamed to leave my Palestinian colleagues, who were some of the most beautiful and compassionate people that I’ve ever met. I was ashamed as an American, as a human being, that we’ve been unable to stop something that is so clearly a genocide. I remember when our bus pulled out of the buffer zone. Out the window on one side I could see Rafah, which was nothing but rubble. On the other side was lush, green Israel. When we exited the gate, the first thing I saw was a group of Israeli soldiers, sitting at a table, eating lunch. I’ve never felt so nauseous seeing a table full of food.”

Aqsa Durrani is a pediatric doctor and board member of Doctors Without Borders USA, with nearly twenty years of experience in humanitarian projects. During our interview Aqsa repeatedly expressed a desire to center the voices of her Palestinian colleagues. To this end I’ve spent the past week collecting stories from the Palestinian staff of Doctors Without Borders in Gaza. I will be sharing these stories over the next several days. I’m so grateful for the time that these people gave me; they were sleepless, hungry, traumatized, and often working 24-hour shifts. Because of the unreliable internet connection their images are sometimes grainy. Their words, however, will be crystal clear.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah criticised UEFA's tribute to the late Suleiman Al-Obeid, known as the "Palestinian Pele," for failing to say that he was killed by an Israeli strike targeting civilians waiting for humanitarian aid in southern Gaza. https://t.co/bUwJ7TBAoN
This is my will and my final message. If these words reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice. First, peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
Allah knows I gave every effort and all my strength to be a support and a voice for my people, ever since I opened my eyes to life in the alleys and streets of the Jabalia refugee camp. My hope was that Allah would extend my life so I could return with my family and loved ones to our original town of occupied Asqalan (Al-Majdal). But Allah’s will came first, and His decree is final. I have lived through pain in all its details, tasted suffering and loss many times, yet I never once hesitated to convey the truth as it is, without distortion or falsification—so that Allah may bear witness against those who stayed silent, those who accepted our killing, those who choked our breath, and whose hearts were unmoved by the scattered remains of our children and women, doing nothing to stop the massacre that our people have faced for more than a year and a half.
I entrust you with Palestine—the jewel in the crown of the Muslim world, the heartbeat of every free person in this world. I entrust you with its people, with its wronged and innocent children who never had the time to dream or live in safety and peace. Their pure bodies were crushed under thousands of tons of Israeli bombs and missiles, torn apart and scattered across the walls.
I urge you not to let chains silence you, nor borders restrain you. Be bridges toward the liberation of the land and its people, until the sun of dignity and freedom rises over our stolen homeland. I entrust you to take care of my family. I entrust you with my beloved daughter Sham, the light of my eyes, whom I never got the chance to watch grow up as I had dreamed.
I entrust you with my dear son Salah, whom I had wished to support and accompany through life until he grew strong enough to carry my burden and continue the mission.
I entrust you with my beloved mother, whose blessed prayers brought me to where I am, whose supplications were my fortress and whose light guided my path. I pray that Allah grants her strength and rewards her on my behalf with the best of rewards.
I also entrust you with my lifelong companion, my beloved wife, Umm Salah (Bayan), from whom the war separated me for many long days and months. Yet she remained faithful to our bond, steadfast as the trunk of an olive tree that does not bend—patient, trusting in Allah, and carrying the responsibility in my absence with all her strength and faith.
I urge you to stand by them, to be their support after Allah Almighty. If I die, I die steadfast upon my principles. I testify before Allah that I am content with His decree, certain of meeting Him, and assured that what is with Allah is better and everlasting.
O Allah, accept me among the martyrs, forgive my past and future sins, and make my blood a light that illuminates the path of freedom for my people and my family. Forgive me if I have fallen short, and pray for me with mercy, for I kept my promise and never changed or betrayed it.
Do not forget Gaza… And do not forget me in your sincere prayers for forgiveness and acceptance.
Anas Jamal Al-Sharif

This is what our beloved Anas requested to be published upon his martyrdom.
I am writing this from the grave.
Do not look for me.
There is no body, only dust, and the smell of what once was bread.
We spoke. Oh, how we spoke.
With the tongues of children choking on smoke.
With the tongues of old men whose homes turned to ash before their afternoon tea cooled.
With the tongues of mothers who gave birth beside mass graves, and then laid their newborns inside them.
We spoke with our blood, with our silence, with our madness.
But the world did not hear.
The world, my friend, is deaf to the human soul, unless that soul bleeds gold.
They bombed us in the name of defense. They starved us in the name of security. They erased us with such calm, you would think it was an administrative procedure.
And now, they speak of expanding the operations, of occupying Gaza fully, not as a tragedy, but as a plan. It is no longer war, it is appetite.
And still we remained.
Not because we are brave.
Not because we are strong.
But because there was nowhere left to go.
I have seen a child dig through rubble with one hand, the other still clutching his sister’s decapitated doll.
I have seen doctors use thread from their own clothes to stitch together lungs that were already drowning.
I have seen men curse God.
And I have seen God…
say nothing.
Forgive me. I do not write this in anger.
I write it because I no longer know if I exist.
Because my memories are louder than your missiles.
Because my dead will not stop speaking.
They ask me:
“Did you tell them? Did you show them what they did to us?”
And I say: “Yes. I told them. I screamed it.”
And they say: “Then why are we still dead?”
They do not want justice. They want the land. Let them take it.
Let them build gardens atop our skulls.
Let them pave our history into a road that leads to nowhere.
Let them sleep beside the sea and call it peace.
But let us go.
Let the children go, with their bent spines and swollen bellies.
Let the mothers go, with the milk still warm in their breasts for babies who no longer breathe.
Let the old go, with their keys rusted into the shape of grief.
We no longer dream.
We no longer believe in victory.
We do not ask for revenge.
We ask only this:
Let us leave before we become beasts.
Let us carry our wounds like prophets, wounds that do not heal, but teach.
Let us walk away from this cursed inheritance, before we pass it on to our children.
And if you must continue your war, then do it without us.
Bomb the dust.
Starve the wind.
Colonize the silence.
But we are gone.
We take with us the names, the songs, the shadows.
We take with us the unbearable dignity of the murdered.
And if God still watches, let Him bear witness.
For if He is silent now, then one day He must speak.
And when He does, He will whisper not in Hebrew, nor Arabic, nor English, but in suffering.
The only language that was ever real.

This is the first time I’ve picked up a brush since the war began!
I wanted to paint the life I dream of, a bright future.
But all tha fills my heart and mind is fear. Hunger. The terror I live everyday in Gaza.
If my voice& words haven’t reached u—
I hope this painting does 🇵🇸
