some USWNT math: the U.S. will take home $3.25 million for its round of 16 exit.
that'll be added to the $13m the men’s team earned in qatar. 10% of the $16.25m total will go to U.S. soccer + the remaining $14.625m will be shared equally between both squads (~$298k per player).
life update: earlier this month i wrapped up my time @Sportico. i’m grateful for the opportunity @soshnick gave me three years back to join this team, and especially thankful for all that i learned from colleagues like @novy_williams, @DanielLibit + the rest of the staff.
covering women’s sports was deeply rewarding for me, both professionally and personally. candidly, it was also equal parts challenging at times, but this chapter in my career ignited a passion that i’m excited to pursue more deeply now — there are so many more stories to be told.

one last also, the men’s national team willingly agreed to these terms and signed their own CBA saying so. if they’re on board with fixing a broken system, maybe you should be too!
also, for those *already* starting to chirp in the replies: a reminder that this arrangement would’ve benefitted the men’s players more than the women’s last go round, when the men’s team failed to qualify for the 2018 world cup and the women won it all in 2019.

ICYMI: france’s celine boutier shot a final round 68 yesterday to become the first home-grown winner of the amundi evian championship and a major winner. but as some of the LPGA's majors supercharge progress, tournaments like evian are falling behind.
