this discourse around phones at concerts? when I was 17 I went to a concert and almost passed out about 30 feet from the stage. how would a phone have helped me? it’s the security guards who were there who sat me in a quiet spot and gave me water, not my phone.

I get what this person is saying but on the other side, it’s a movie! You only have ~90-180 minutes with these characters and the movie is most interesting when it can explore the topic it’s actually about. THIS IS 40 is 133 minutes of seeing characters’ lives and is terrible lol

something i've noticed about THE DRAMA, OBSESSION, BLUE FILM, EXIT 8, HOKUM, ERUPCJA, & UNDERTONE is a relative incuriosity about characters' lives beyond exposition. very hermetic, these people don't seem to exist outside of the immediate circumstances of the movie they're in.
