Irukera, Okoh relieved of their duties, not dismissed

I have followed the concerns in the media on the report that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu dismissed Babatunde Irukera EVC/CEO, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and Alexander Ayoola Okoh — Director-General/CEO, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).

The President’s directive did not intend a dismissal . The two men who have served our country were relieved of their duties by the President, as he scouts for their successors.

The connotations implied in using the word dismissal were clearly not intended in the statement issued.

President Tinubu thanks the two men for their services and wishes them well in their future endeavours.

May I appeal to FG not Tinubu to reverse the removal of @TundeIrukera as the Chairman of @fccpcnigeria

2: @TundeIrukera is an outstanding officer of the Federal Government of Nigeria who has served us meritoriously.

3: Significant strides was the conclusion of Tobacco $110m payment to the govt.

4: During his tenure, FCCPC became self - funding agency. They can pay their salaries and execute capital expenditure without waiting for office of Accountant General of the Federation

5: He has never withheld any revenue meant for CRF.

6: He prioritized training and welfare of his workers as an important tool for development and motivation.

7: I am sure the President @NigeriaGov was misled. Allow him to complete his term sir

8: The one for @BPENigeria DG’s removal is in order. That, I am 100% with you.

9: Let us remember how Nigeria lost Damilola Ogunbiyi who was removed controversial manner and now working with UN as a Special Representative of UNSG on sustainable energy. First woman to be GM Lagos Electricity Board.

10: The winners of removal of Tunde are Loan sharks and electricity discos. He was on their neck. Don’t let us lose the gains recorded.
