VICTORY: Utah court rules that proposed Amendment D - which would eliminate Utahns' constitutional right to alter their government through initiatives without government interference - is VOID. Ballot language found misleading and inaccurate and legislature failed to publish text
BREAKING NEWS: Today, the Utah Supreme Court upheld Utah voters’ constitutional right to reform their government. This is a major victory for our clients, @mormonweg and @lwvutah, and Utah voters!!

VICTORY! Utah Supreme Court reinstates our claim that the legislature violated the Utah Constitution when it repealed the initiative banning partisan gerrymandering. Affirms that the people have the right to alter or reform their government. #fairmaps#Utah
CLC's new report on redistricting commissions in the 2021 cycle and lessons learned for future cycles has been (literally) years in the making. Excited for this resource to be out there for grassroots leaders and legislators looking to reform redistricting in their states.
BREAKING: Supreme Court has DENIED cert for the case alleging that the Washington State Voting Rights Act is unconstitutional. Huge victory for everyone relying on SVRAs to promote minroity representation! https://t.co/pxT7MsO9y6
VICTORY! The Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down the state’s legislative maps as unconstitutional — a win for Wisconsinites & for our democracy. We celebrate this victory with our clients & partners @lawfwd, @ElectionClinic, @Stafford_Law & @arnoldporter: https://t.co/TcbYK3Wdrm
NEW: @ABetterWis releases comprehensive poll showing Wisconsin voters oppose @repvos & GOP scheme to impeach @janetforjustice by a 24-point margin. That's twice as many points as her 11-point victory in April that Vos and Republicans are trying to undo.
Gerry was a voracious fighter for democracy and representation, and a wonderful mentor and colleague. He was truly an inspiration for all lawyers, and I am lucky to have worked with him. He will be sorely missed but constantly remembered as we continue the fight in his name.
Today, the democracy community lost one of its greatest leaders: Gerry Hebert, a fierce defender of voting rights and a titan of election law.
He served as the executive director of CLC for many years, and was deeply committed to mentoring young lawyers. https://t.co/vVGjAF5RMI
After decades of vote dilution and the long-lasting impacts of discrimination, Latino voters in the Yakima Valley will finally have an equal opp to elect state legislators who are responsive to their concerns. Proud to be part of this team, and congrats to our amazing clients!
VICTORY: A federal judge has ruled that Washington state’s redistricting plan violates Section 2 of the #VotingRightsAct and dilutes the voting strength of Latino voters in the Yakima Valley region.
Latino voters in the region will be able to make their voices heard.

Today I voted in the first election under Michigan’s new election maps. Surreal to know I had a hand in drawing, enacting, and defending my new, un-gerrymandered districts. After two years of hard work by so many people, we really did THAT! @RedistrictingMI#MI20#MI11#MI13
*stands up and applauds, crying* “states that are passing the most restrictive laws around abortion are also the states that are preventing people from voting…[these laws] do not reflect the will of the people.”
This is HUGE news with potentially HUGE consequences for our democracy. The Q in this case is whether state courts may protect voting rights in federal elections on the basis of state constitutions.
There is no serious dispute that Louisiana voters of color are being denied the equal opportunity to elect by the failure of the Louisiana legislature to provide a second opportunity district, and now SCOTUS’s endorsement of the legislature’s open violation of federal law.
The John Lewis #NYVRA just passed the New York General Assembly, and his headed to the Governor’s desk! While Congress fails to act on voting rights, states like NY are acting on their own. Good day!
I'm proud to have fought for #FairMaps in both WI and my home state of MI with the wonderful @markpgaber @douglaspoland @theMelBarnes and countless others on behalf of voters. Watch @CampaignLegal's new video comparing the redistricting processes in both states.
In 2014, New Yorkers voted to make partisan gerrymandering unconstitutional in their state. Yesterday, the state's highest court honored that. We need more state courts to follow suit where their state constitutions also require #FairMaps (e.g. FL). https://t.co/ff8j6esZod
